PART – 1 INTRO PART
What is your full name?
My name is Navdeep Kaur.
How may I address you?

Do you like bags?
Bag is not really must-have item to me. I just use a backpack due to its convenience. Probably I’ll spend some time getting to know more about bags later on.
What types of bags do you like?
I’m not a big fan of this item so the only bag I use from time to time is the backpack. I love backpack because I tend to put a lot of heavy stuff inside such as my laptop, my water bottles, etc. whenever I get outdoors. It’s the long-term convenience that makes high-quality backpacks worth my money.
Do you usually carry a bag (when you go out)?
As aforementioned I carry my backpack all the time, when I go to school or hang out with friends. Although it may not give me a fashionable look, I think comfort and convenience is the top priority to me.
Do you have different bags for different occasions (or, different purposes)?
Well I must say that at present I have no idea about different types of bags or that sort of things. And it also costs me an arm and a leg if I ever want to become a bag collector with, say, twenty different bags for different occasions. However, I do have one fashionable small satchel for special occasions. I’m also kind of afraid that wearing heavy bags all the time will somehow affect my spine and my shoulders.
What do you put in these bags?
Well, when I go out or go to work, I usually put my laptop, cell phone, charger, basic beauty products like lipsticks, lotions, and water bottle and probably a pair of earphones. When I use the smaller backpack, I tend to leave everything at home but my makeup kit and water bottles.
What sorts of bags do women like to buy?
I think every women regardless of age, occupation, tastes, needs, etc has at least one backpack with them. As I’ve already explained about its convenience, backpack is ideal for everyday life. However, the top favorite bag would be the well-designed handbag.
What is your understanding of the term “globalization”?
Globalization, in my mind, is the idea that the world is becoming smaller, so societies can interact and exchange culture more easily and more efficiently. Unfortunately, because some countries are richer and have more influence than others, certain cultures get spread around more than others. On the whole, however, globalization is a good thing because it is not only culture that gets spread, but things like information and medicine that can help people.
Do you think globalization is a good thing?
Yes, globalization has its problems, but for the most part, it is good for most people involved. Some people have different opinions because they are really concerned with the loss of culture, but for me, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. People have access to more information, so diseases can be better treated, food can be made more efficiently, and goods that make people’s lives easier are now available.
Do you think it’s easier to learn about other cultures today than it was before?
Yes, of course it is. All you have to do is to look at art from long ago about foreign cultures and you can see the lack of knowledge people had. Today, with the Internet and the number of books available, it is almost impossible to be ignorant. It is so easy to learn about anything you want.

Biology is my favorite subject. Thanks for learning biology; I have a deep insight about living life around me from a tiny bacterium to a complex human. Among different organisms, I love to elucidate the intricate mechanisms in plants.
Why am I interested in plant biology? Well, it’s hard to explain. Plants, even though they are unable to move and speak, they are living things. They have their own language and have a wonderful life. Have you ever asked yourself that why plants are the only organism that have up ground part and ground part?
It is because carbon dioxide, light and water are the main sources for plants to grow. Water is obtained from soil through a complex root system. Roots keep a plant anchored tightly to the soil as well. Water moves up the plant’s stem to the leaves. Sunlight and carbon dioxide are taken by leaves. Therefore, plants use water, light energy and carbon dioxide to make glucose, a kind of sugar and this is the food for plant to grow.
You see? Just a very simple example, plants are worth to study about. That’s also a reason why I choose Plant Biotechnology as my major. By using molecular technology, I can learn more inside of plant cells and discover the mechanisms in plants. Thanks for understanding of plant biology, it is applicable to manipulate and improve crop yield. It pours more and more passion to me for my future career.
PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
What do students do after school in your country?
Students in my country usually take extra classes after school, which are often taught by their own teachers or private tutors. If students do not have classes, many of them hang out with friends in the afternoon before going home to have dinner and do their homework.
Do you think students should choose subjects they like?
To a certain extent, yes. I think subjects like Math, Reading, and at least one Foreign Language should be compulsory for all. Other subjects such as Arts and Music should be optional, as I think few students intend to work in the creative industry or see it as a viable career path.
Can the students in your country choose their favorite subjects?
No. The subjects students learn are all dictated by the Ministry of Education. In my experience, all students have at least one subject they detest. Many subjects students want to learn aren’t even available.
