Academic Writing Task 1:-
The table below gives month wisedetails of in-patients at St. Martha’s Hospital from Jan. to May in the year 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Sample Answer:-
The table gives a detailed study of the number of patients per month who stayed at St. Martha’s Hospital for the first five months of the year, 2010.
It was in the month of March that maximum number of patients stayed at the hospital, althoughvarying in the number of days stayed, followed by January. The month of April found the least number of in-patients during the given period.
In terms of the duration of the stay of patients at the hospital, it was again March, which had the highest number 67, who stayed for 13-15 was well over 100 in each case. While in January there was 50 patients for 0-2 days, the other months in this respect had negligible attendance, expect February (15). In month of April, no patient was in the hospital for more than 12 days. In the case ofthose who stayed in the hospital wards for more than one month, March, and May recorded 12 each, while April had none.
Overall, it is apparent from the graph that St. Martha’s Hospital specialized in nursing the sick who required long periods of treatment.

Dear Manger,
On 3rd January 2015, I visited your store and bought a belt. My invoice number is VJU56952 and belt price was $ 14.99. I express my sheer disappointment over non-disclosure of true information about the product that was sold by your sales associate named Julianne Morre.
I explicitly expressed to her that I wanted to buy a belt made of artificial leather only. I am a great animal lover and I abstain from using genuine leather products. Nonetheless, she went on withholding information with respect to the belt material and presented false information. She confirmed proudly that the belt was made of artificial leather only. On her word, I decided to go ahead and purchased it. Two days later, my brother who had better knowledge of leather items found that the belt was made of genuine leather.
Julianne sold the product with lies and deception. Therefore, I return this product and demand a full refund at the earliest.
I hope to hear from you. Due to this bitter experience, I will refrain from shopping at your store in future.

Are celebrities treated unfairly by the media? Should they be given more privacy, or is the price of their fame an invasion into their private lives?
Sample Answer –
The press, being the fourth estate of democracy, is there to educate, to entertain and to inform readers and viewers. Famous people achieve name and fame, thanks also to activities of journalists. To a great extent, famous people remain famous as long as they are under the glare of publicity on the media, but in the in-depth analysis, this means less privacy.
Obviously, the success of actors, models and others in the show business depends on how much people appreciate them. Ordinary people, who are generally a hero-worshipping lot, express an enormous interest to know what their adored heroes and heroines do in their day-to-day life.
Another category of people in whom the common folk have an interest is the politicians. In a true democracy, politicians depend on the goodwill of the people. People have the right to know how their leaders spend the public money, where they go, whom they meet and what they do. This information is required by the electorate to evaluate the integrity of their leaders.
It is a fact that always the tabloid press focuses too much on public figures. For instance, even in a country like the U.K, one single tabloid newspaper has more circulation than all the broadsheets puttogether. In addition, sometimes, famous people intentionally create situations to get media attention. Then they complain that the media are intrusive. However, there are many famous people who lead their lives without inviting controversies.
Finally, every famous person is generally the creation of media and, therefore, they must expect much less privacy than the common folk. Revealing the private affairs of celebrities need not be an invasion on their privacy, because lives of famous people have always been a fascinating thing for the public.

Are you fond of bags?
Yes I am fond of bags. I like to buy a new backpack or laptop case every now and then. There are many options available in the market these days, which prompt me to keep changingthe bag that I use. Bags are not just a utility item to me, but also a style statement. I think a good bag can add to the personality of the one carrying it.
Have you every purchased a handbag for anyone?
Yes, I remember purchasing a beautiful brown leather handbag for my mother when I was only 12 years old. I had saved up my pocket money for a few months leading up to her birthday, and found a bag that would suit her style and taste. The bag had many sections inside and a few handy side pockets as well. It was very hardy, too, and lasted a good few years.
What are some tips for selecting a bag for gifting?
The first thing to keep in mind while buying a bag is the gender of the person for whom the bag is being purchased. For woman, handbags and purses are more suitable, while for men, laptop bags, messenger bags, and backpacks are ideal. Then, the choice of fabric is also important. Some people may be very fond of leather, while others may be completely averse to animal products. So, one must know the taste of the person for whom the bag is being purchased. While gifting a bag, one should also keep in mind the age of the receiver, and buy suitable colours to suit their personality.
Are children’s bags different from adults’ bags?
Yes, children’s bags are quite different from the bags that adults use. Children prefer bags which are more colourful and striking. They often go for multi coloured bags, or bags depicting their favourite superheroes and cartoon characters. These days it is easy to find school bags and hand bags for children, with any cartoon character of their choice. The quality of children’s bags has also improved a lot in the last decade.

My city has become a cosmopolitan in the last few years. Because of this, recreational facilities in the city, and the standard of living have gone up substantially. This change has created some space for an emerging club culture. Here, I would like to talk about RajpathClub. This is not a new club; rather it is one of the oldest and the best clubs of my city. It is located on Sarkhej Gandhinagar highway. I am not a member of this club because the distance between the club and my house is too much. I cannot access this club on a regular basis. However, I have visited this club many times. It is spread over a very large area. It has ample parking place, a big clubhouse, three conference halls, an air-conditioned banquet hall, a party plot and a big swimming pool. The interiors of the club are quite modern, and every part of the club is very calming. The club offers annual and lifetime memberships at premium rates; buy, if we compare the services offered by this club with other clubs, the rates at Rajpath are very reasonable. It offers attractive discounts on the organisation of parties, conferences, and other functions to its members. The club management also organises various cultural and sport events for its members. It has a good restaurant, too, that serves Indian, Chinese, Italian, and Mexican food. I feel the club is a complete package of recreation, luxury, and convenience. Hence, I don’t have any suggestions for the improvement of the club.

Why do you think people go to club?
People go to clubs for a variety of reasons. Most people visit clubs to enjoy the club’s recreational facilities like the swimming pool, the gym, and areas for playing other games, as clubs are the only places that offer all these facilities under one roof.
What activities do youngsters/children/women/aged people do there?
Youngsters prefer playing indoor and outdoor games like cricket, tennis, and chess. They also like working out in the gym. Children visit clubs for swimming and other amusement rides. Women go to clubs to socialise. They often organise kitty parties at clubs. Old people go there for walks, to meet others, and to pass their time.
What facilities should be provided by an idea club?
The list of services and facilities provided by a good club can be endless. Still, I will try to name some. An ideal club should have a garden, a swimming pool, a basketball court, a tennis court a walking track, a party plot, a banquet hall, a restaurant and cafeteria, a parking lot, good accommodations with round-the-clock room services lockers, and a functional 24 hours customer care help line.
