WRITING TASK 2 (AC + GT)
Some people prefer one-on-one lessons, while others like groups. Discuss both views and give you opinion.
SAMPLE ANSWER
People have different preferences regarding the kind of classes they would like to attend. Some people opt for one-on-one ones, whereas others choose group sessions. Both of these preferences will be discussed in this essay along with my opinion.
On the one hand, individual sessions significantly boost the progress of students. In such courses, students have undivided attention of the teacher. As a result, they can ask as many questions as they want and get answers instantly with detailed explanations. Conversely, in group classes which often consist of at least a dozen students, such opportunities are rare for each student because the teacher has to attend to each one of them. Besides, in one-on-one sessions, teachers can identify the specific strengths and weaknesses of students and design a lesson plan that suit them. This is not exactly possible in group sessions.
However, it is understandable why some learners prefer group classes. It is widely acknowledged that the cost of one-on-one guide is exorbitantly high and only a small percentage of students can afford it. By contrast, group sessions are cheaper. Also, there are some specific advantages to attending a class with other students. This enables each student to compare their progress with that of their classmates. This way they will be motivated to work harder when they fall behind their peers.
In my view, both of these two kinds of schooling have their own inherent advantages, and learners should make their options based on their own situations rather than following others blindly. As for me, I prefer group classes, since I am a budget shopper.
