The bar graph shows the modes of transport people used to travel in New Zealand in 1995 and 2005. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown.
SAMPLE ANSWER
The bar graph depicts the statistical data regarding proportion of people that used different modes to commute in New Zealand. The years under consideration are 1995 and 2005.
It can be seen from the bar graph that in 1995, people who drove car were highest that accounted for 60%. It was followed by private vehicle passenger with a little more than 10% and bus with 10%. Next, the percentage of people who used other modes, walked and rode bicycle was in descending order.
After 10 years, out of 6, the percentage of people that used 3 modes increased. The people who drove car rose to the peak point that was approximately 70%. In case of private vehicle passenger and bicycle, the figures of people rose slightly. Rest in all the modes, the figures dropped and in case of walking, the percentage became negligible.
Overall, it is clear that maximum people preferred to drive car in both the years while least liked walking.
