The below line chart shows changes in reading patterns of Australian men and women in the year 2006.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given line graph illustrates the number of books read by men and women in a public library in Australia from the years 1996 to 2000.
As can be seen in the graph, the most striking feature of women reading habits is that nearly 150 hours were spent by them in 1996 which considerably reduced to 90 hours in 1997. Then, after 1997, it steadily rose to roughly 110 hours in 1998 and then again there was a marginal difference of about 10 hours increases in 1999. Finally, it climbed significantly to nearly 140 hours in 2000 which was again a substantial rise.
Now, looking at the number of hours spent by men for reading in 1996, it was at 100 in 1996. The men continued to spend less number of hours till 1997 and 1998 and the number reduced by half in 1997. Then again it reached to almost 35 hours in 1998. After this, it increased by two times nearly to 70 hours then again declined to nearly 40 hours in 2000.
