The graph shows the incidence of serious crimes in india from 1953 to 2003.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph depicts information regarding the number of severe crimes registered in India from the year 1953 to 2003. The general view of the graph exhibits a fluctuating trend where the incidence of murder increased comparatively.
Apparently, during 1953,the reported cases of murder were around 10,000, whereas 5000 cases were registered for rape. During the successive years, the crime of both homicide and sexual assault increased .However, after a few fluctuations, the murder cases registered in India peaked in 1993, that was about 40,000 which was followed by a drop in the number of murders and finally, in 2003 the registered homicide cases were approximately 27,000. Similarly, rape cases in India also fluctuated throughout the time frame and by the beginning of 2003, the crime rate of rape has decreased significantly to 15,000, which again skyrocketed to 27000 numbers during the same year.
Although there were no reported incidents of kidnapping cases in India until the end of 1963, by 1973 such crimes started to report. The number of kidnaps registered shows an increasing trend with minimal fluctuations and it is a noticeable feature in the graph. However, during the first decades of 21 st century, crimes related to kidnap were surprisingly high, that is more than 20000 when compared with just 2500 cases registered in 1973.
