The chart below shows the percentage of Irish language speakers by province in the Republic of Ireland (state) in five different years.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main feature, and make comparisons where relevant.

This chart shows that the percentage of people in the Irish republic, and in each province, who speak the Irish language, has increased between the years of 1981 and 2002.
This trend of increasing numbers of speakers each year is generally consistent. There is a similar pattern in each province, with slow increases until 1991, and then a large increase in 1996, and a smaller increase again in 2002. The only exception to this trend occurs in Leinster, Connacht, and Ulster in the year 1986, there appears to be a very small increase.
Although the trend is the same, the percentages different widely between provinces. Connacht has the highest number of Irish speakers, rising to between 47 and 48 percent. It is closely followed by Munster, with around 46 percent. Ulster has about 42 percent, with Leinster showing the lowest values with less 40 percent. This relationship between numbers and speakers and province is also consistent between years; in other words, Connacht always has the highest percentage, and Leinster the lowest.
Perhaps the most striking point that is illustrated by this large rise in the number of Irish language speakers in the year 1996. In every province, it is close to a 10 percent increase. I would guess that some action must have been taken to encourage people to learn the language in the years between 1991 and 1996.
