SAMPLE ANSWER:-

The proportion of money that the government spent on the various Arts changed between 1995 and 2005 but thus did not always reflect the number of people who went to Arts events.

Music is the most popular art form and in 1995 the government sent most money on this but the amount they spent dropped slightly in 2005. However, the number of people attending music events rose between 1995 and 2005. Theatre received a relatively small proportion of money from the government in 1995 and this rose substantially in 2005 to a similar amount as that spent on music.

The number of people participating in theatre events rose only slightly, although this was the second most popular art form. In 2005 far less money was spent on the visual arts than in 1995 and the number of people participating dropped as well.

The amount spent on literature in 1995 and 2005 was more or less the same and this was the least popular art form, although the number or people participating did rise slightly.

WRITING TASK 2 (AC+GT):-

Nowadays more people are choosing to live with friends or alone rather than with their families. This trend is likely to have a negative impact on communities.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

SAMPLE ANSWER:-

In many countries people of all ages are choosing to live either alone or with friends and there is no doubt that this is having an effect on the communities that they live in.

Modern life means that many people live away from their families either because they are studying or because their circumstances have changed, such as getting discovered. Also people often have to travel away from their home town in order to get a job and, if they are not married, this means they live alone or share with friends. So whole towns and cities are changing because of this.

The negative effects of this are, firstly, on the environment as more houses and flats needs to be built and this is a drain on resource. At the same time, a social; consequences is that people are living in isolation or if they fall out with their flat mates they can be in a difficult situation. These people become distant from their families and, as often they just go to work and come home, they do not always participate in community life or help create a neighborhood where everyone known each other.

However, there are also positive effects of this way of living. Communities with a lot of single people or shared houses tend to have a lot of young people. Many of these young people go out more so more shops and leisure activities develop in the town and they can have a vibrant social life. This can make for a very dynamic and innovative community.

The change in the way people are living is inevitable and, in my view, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Nevertheless, we will have to be careful that we do not produce communities with social problems caused by people feeling isolated.

IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW:-

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Akanksha Rani.

How may I address you?

You may address me by my first name Akanksha.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Is bicycle riding safe in your city?

Bicycle riding is reasonably safe in my city. There are thousands of people who use bicycles to travel from one place to another in my city, and they do so happily. Sometimes I read about bicycle riders meeting with accidents or mishaps in the newspaper, but all in all bicycles riding is quite safe where I come from.

What kinds of people ride bicycle in your city?

People of all age groups ride bicycles in my city. school children use them to go to their schools. Youngsters use bicycles to reach their workplaces, and often, for daily physical exercise to stay fit. Middle aged and old people also ride bicycles for similar reasons where I stay.

What changes have you seen in bicycles in the last few years?

Bicycles have become fancier and more rider-friendly in the last few years. We can see bicycles available today in all frame sizes and wheel sizes, with many speed gears, and we also get to see variants with tubeless tyres. Many other attractive features such as GPS devices and fitness trackers are also included in bicycles to attract more people towards riding them.

Do you think there should be separate tracks for bicycles on roads?

It is indeed a great idea. Many countries in Europe have done this. We should have separate tracks for bicycles on roads in order to provide safety to riders, and to encourage more people to ride bicycles. This also facilitates our environment, because if more people use bicycles, human transportation will cause lesser pollution, thus safeguarding the earth against the negative effects of global warming.

Why is it preferred that children ride bicycles?

Children love riding bicycles because it is the first step in their lives towards learning how to ride a vehicle. Additionally riding a bicycle is safer than most motorized vehicles, and also convenient for short distances. To top it, children are not licensed by the government to drive any motor vehicle until they reach a certain age and clear the driving standards. These are the reasons why bicycles are the preferred choice for children.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Elaborate on a life plan of yours that is not related to work or study.

You should say

– What this life plan is

– How you would fulfil it

– Why it is important to you

– By when do you think you can bring this plan to fruition?

Sample Answer:-

One life plan of mine that is very close to my heart is to do with my retirement. It is motivated by the fact that I do not want to spend my retirement in the hustle bustle of the polluted city. After working very hard for many years in my career, I would like to buy a plot of land in a serene area a little bit on the outskirts of the city, where the air is clean, and natural ecosystems thrive.

In this countryside property, I would like to have my own little farm where I can grow organic fruits and vegetables, in order to share with my family and friends. In this property, I want to build a small, cozy cottage, like one of those holiday homes we often see on TV. My lifestyle would be very pro-nature three, and I would spend many hours meditating and enjoying good music with my family.

I plan to build a small pyramid structure there for hosting group meditation sessions every day, in a very inclusive manner. These sessions would be open and accessible to all. I want to do this in a bid to raise the collective conscience of humanity. The next step would be to involve myself in providing social services to the community around me for their wellbeing, and also to uplift them.

This is very important to me because I see many people today who are not living their lives as happily as they otherwise can, simply because of mental blocks, and lack of me time. I think a meditation centre in the countryside would be a blessing to people, and it would be my small way of giving back to the community.

PART – 3 TWO WAY DISCUSSION

Is retirement planning important?

Yes, retirement planning is very important according to me. If a person plans well in advance for his retirement, it can turn out to be a very enjoyable phase of life. Someone who starts making a list of things he would like to do during his retirement, he can start saving money accordingly and invest it in the most profitable manner possible.

Retirement planning also takes into account expenses that may have to be incurred for healthcare and in case of other unforeseen emergencies, apart from just a person’s leisure activities. If sufficient planning has been done in advance then emergencies and healthcare expenses will not leave any dents in the retiree’s savings, thereby enabling him to live his life to the fullest in the absence of a steady flow of income from a job or business.

Why do people make some life plans keeping in mind their retirement?

There are many things that each of us wants to accomplish in life, many places that we want to travel to, and many activities we want to try our hands at during the course of our lifetime. However, we all only have limited time on hands, and most of it is invariably spent on running around to earn money. While we are working to earn money, it is very difficult to find sufficient time to travel the world or indulge in our hobbies to our heart’s content.

So, we make some life plans especially with retirement in mind. For instance, it is not feasible for most people to detach from society and work stresses and retreat into the hills while they are in their thirties or forties. However, this is a real possibility for many people, after they retire.

Have you prepared a bucket of list of things to do before you die?

I have prepared a mental bucket list of things to do before I die. This list although, is not set in stone. I keep subtracting things from it and adding new things to it, from time to time. One thing that remains constant in this list is my plan to build myself a country home with an attached farm. Another constant in my bucket list is travel.

A new addition to my bucket list is my desire to go skydiving at least once. Sometimes I manage to achieve certain things earlier than planned. When that happens, I do not strike the item off my list. Instead, I just replace it with another brand new desire.
