You are currently taking a course at a college but you will need to have a week off during this course. Write a letter to the college Principal. In the letter:
– give details of your course
– explain why you need a week off
– say what you want the Principal to do

Dear Sir,
I am writing to request a week off from 26th September to 2nd October in order to make an industrial visit as a part of my project work. I am in the second year of my post graduate program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
My specialization is Power Electronics and as a part of my curriculum, I am supposed to do an application project in the upcoming semester. After researching my options, I have decided to work with one of the leading electronics companies in India.
I tried to approach the research department of “Texas Instruments” several times and my requests were rejected because of their tight schedule. The deadline for my project topic submission is almost near and upon special request the company has given me an appointment for the aforementioned dates. If I fail to visit this time, I will not get an opportunity again.
I would be grateful if you could consider my request and grant me permission to take a week off.
