GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You would like to work in a different city to be closer to your family. Write a letter to your employer to request a transfer to another office. In the letter:

– Explain why you would like to move

– Request that your employer place you in a specific city

– Request that it be completed by a certain date

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to request a transfer to the Toronto office as I would like to stay near to my family. As my parents are getting older, they now need my presence and support especially in situations such as medical emergencies and bank visits.

So, if I work from our Toronto branch, which is near my home, I could reach them whenever necessary within a couple of hours. Also, now I get to visit them only once in two months. This makes me stressed out and affects my productivity because I am worrying about them all the time.

If you approve of my transfer request, it would be helpful if you could complete the procedure between the 15^th and 30^th of December. This will allow me to utilize the Christmas holidays to set up my new home in Toronto and there will be no need to avail of any extra leave.
