You want to learn a language. There is a teacher near to where you live. Write a letter to the teacher. In the letter:
– say how you came to know about him/her
– explain why you want to learn
– ask what help they can offer.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Miss SMC,
I am writing to enquire about the possibility of enrolling in your French classes.
I have seen your advertisement in one of the local newspapers and learnt that you are a native speaker and can teach French for any levels. Since I am particularly keen to learn from a native speaker, I believe that you are the person I am looking for.
My reason for wanting to learn French is that I will be travelling to Canada in about six months to pursue my university education. As French is one of the official languages in Canada, I think that learning the language will be an added advantage.
I would be grateful if you could provide me with the details of your availability. I would prefer a short duration course if that is possible, because I have a limited time. Please, could you also tell me the tuition fees and the procedure for admission?
