A friend from another country is coming to stay with you and has sent you an email asking what type of clothes to bring.
Write a letter to your friend in your letter:
– Describe the types of weather at different times of the year in your city
– Suggest clothes for your friend to bring and why
– Tell your friend about one item of clothing that you find the most useful
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Alex,
I’m really looking forward to your visit next week. We haven’t seen each other in so long!
In your email you asked about the type of clothes to bring with you. Last time you visited it was summer, and as you know the summers here are very humid and it rains a lot. This time you’re coming in the winter though and it’s vastly different. Although we never have snow like you do in Switzerland, it can be very windy during the day and the nights can get quite chilly, with the temperature often falling below 10.
You should bring jeans and sweaters and a warm hat. Because it’s so windy, you could wear a coat or heavy jacket too. We spend a lot of our time outdoors, and I find that wearing jumper is useful in this climate as it keeps me warm. I wear a t-shirt underneath, and if it’s sunny during the day it’s convenient to tie it around my waist to carry it around. Then I can easily put it on again it gets colder.
