You work for a company that offers house clothing services. You recently advertised the company in a local magazine, but they printed the wrong phone number.
Write a letter to the magazine. In your letter:
– tell them about the mistake in the advertisement
– explain why this is a problem for your company
– say what you would like the magazine to do
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Mr. f,
I work for Easy Clean and we placed an advertisement for our company in your magazine last month. When we received our complimentary copy of the magazine, I noticed that our phone number was incorrect. The email I sent you with instructions for the ad said our phone number was 394 56932, however the number in the advertisement was 394 59632. I have attached the email below.
As a result, the company has had absolutely no response to the advertisement. It is disappointing because when I telephoned the advertised number, the person who answered said they had received quite a few calls asking for Easy Clean. This is a problem for us because not only did we lose those customers, they would probably be unlikely to respond to one of our ads in future.
We would like to have a refund on the £250 we paid in advance to place the ad. In addition, we ask that you print an apology in the next edition, announcing that the number in the advertisement was incorrect and print our ad again, this time with the correct phone number and free of charge.
