Your friend had made a plan for you to see a movie together but you cannot now not join him. You’ve found another friend who can go instead of you. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter:
– Explain why you cannot go anymore
– Say who can go instead of you
Say why this person is a good person to go with

Dear Joe,
How’re things with you? Last week, we made a weekend movie plan, but I am so sorry that I cannot make it.
Yesterday, my boss came up with an urgent request to the team asking for a feature release ASAP. With the tight timeline, we have no other go except working on the weekend. So, I can’t make it to meet you as planned.
Tom came from the UK last month and he called me this morning to meet up. Why don’t you guys catch up this Saturday to enjoy the movie night? I’m sure he is good fun and you won’t disappoint. On top of everything, it has been aged you met him since college, you have a lot to chit-chat. I think he is an awesome guy to spend with. Anyway, let me know if you are good with this. I’ll have to let him know.
