You had to cancel a meeting with a friend. Write a letter to him/her, in your letter
– Apologise for cancelling the meeting
– Explain why you couldn’t be there
– Suggest an alternative day when you could meet
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Mike,
Hope this letter finds you in good health and mental peace and everything’s ok on your end. What’re you up to these days? Long time, no see. I haven’t seen you since last summer.
Let me first tell you that I’m afraid of being unable to attend our meeting this evening. I owe you an apology, but you’ve to know that I am down in the dumps because I will miss your company because you are my second to none.
One more thing I need to add is that my grandmother is so sick and she is in dire need to see the doctor. So, I will take her to the hospital this evening to make a full check-up. And I will be so busy at night because I should look after her.
Lastly, before I end up my letter, I want to arrange another appointment with you. Even though I am overwhelmed with my work these days, I am keen on seeing you at your earliest convenience. I guess next Monday at 7 pm will be suitable for us. And inform me if there is any change.
Take good care of yourself, and till I see you, say hi to your beloved kids.
