Dear John,
It is great to hear from you and I am surprised to hear that you already read about the news that China is opening the border to foreign guests starting in January. It is amazing how fast news travels these days.
It has been 3 years since the first covid case discovery in December 2020. The government decided to close off the border to prevent new cases from overseas. It protected millions of older people’s life, however, affected the economy badly.
The new string of virus Omicron is weaker and causes fewer fatal diseases, the government decided it is time to fight against the virus and open the border and resume global economic activities.
This will definitely have positive impacts on society, for one, businesses will resume their international expansion and cooperation; for the other, we can finally start travelling again. In fact, I am already planning a trip to Australia this year.
If you are considering travelling to China, this year would be good timing and I would be happy to take you around the Shanghai region.
