IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW:-

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Gurmanjeet Kaur.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Gurman.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Where do you come from?

I am from Delhi.

In your country do people wear hats and caps?

Yes, I’ve seen many people wearing hats or caps, especially in my community when I go to church on Sunday morning and I see elderly people wearing hats and the youth wearing stylish caps.

Do you wear hats and caps?

Sometimes I wear the cap for two reasons. One is when I see the temperature outside is very heated so I try to beat the heat by wearing a cap. Second is sometimes I love wearing different kinds of caps just to look stylish.

Did you wear hats as a child?

Yes, I did. My grandfather was very much fond of wearing stylish and traditional hats. He would take me to church every Sunday morning, and I started following the same culture. He bought me a few hats when I was in school. I’ve treasured them yet and oftentimes I try them as per occasion.

Why do people wear hats and caps?

It’s a personal preference, and a lot depends, upon the family culture. For instance, my family has traditionally been using hats and caps so we follow suit. Others might be doing it for beating the heat during the summer time. There is another group of people who wear to look stylish and trendy and they might be thinking that wearing hats and caps fulfil their needs.

Do you think it’s mostly for practical reasons or because of fashion?

I guess it has both purposes in some cases. But for me it’s more of a fashion than a practical reason.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Speak about a peaceful place you visit regularly.

You should say

– The name and location of the place

– When and how you go there

– What the place is like

– What do you do there?

SAMPLE ANSWER:-

It is really difficult to find a truly peaceful place in big cities. People have to move away from cities, to small towns or villages to look for such places. I found a truly peaceful place near my city. It is a small village named ‘Dholeshwar, located approximately 25 kilometres away from my home. This village is situated on the banks of the river, Sabarmati. There is a big Lord Shiva temple surrounded by a natural landscape, rich in a variety of trees and plants.

The temple is located on the bank of the river, and on a big plateau. This place is amazingly peaceful and soothing. Because of the river, the air stays a little humid and cools throughout the year. The flow of the river is shallow and slow here. That makes this place ideal for people who like to swim, and play other games in the water.

I visit this place at least once in two months with my family members. I first go to the temple to offer a prayer to Lord Shiva, and then walk to the bank bare feet to feel the softness of the sand. We enjoy playing in the water for some time, and then we sit in the opening on the bank, between old trees and plants. The feel of the cool air, the sound or water flowing by, and the chirping of birds make this place truly alive, and refreshing just sit and try to enjoy the weather and absorb the vibes of this place.

At times, I go there with my friends and we play games like cricket and volleyball. According to me, it is one of the most peaceful places I have ever seen in my life. I feel fresh, charged, ecstatic joyous, and energised, there.

PART – 3 Follow-Ups

Under what circumstances do people go to such places?

People go to such places when they are exhausted, tired, or even frustrated. Some use such places as stress busters. In short, those who are disconnected from peace inner harmony in their routine lives, or those who want to strengthen their connection with peace, visit such places. When they go to such places, their mental disturbance reduced, and they feel calm and peaceful again. It is also seen that people often get new insights into their existing difficulties when they develop a harmony with their souls, at such places.

Should people spend some time alone regularly, as a part of their routine?

I think it is essential to spend some time by ourselves as a part of our routine, because when we are with others, our mind keeps receiving feedback from our surroundings. This constant input of emotions and reactions disturbs our mind, and reduces its efficiency. When we are alone, such disturbances settle and we can have a better, clearer look at our lives. Hence, I recommend that everyone spend at least twenty to thirty minutes a day all by themselves.

Here, I would like to clear one more point. There is a big difference in being alone and being lonely. If we keep focusing our energies on others and on external situations when we are alone, we are bound to feel lonely, which can weaken our mind. But, if we stay connected with our feelings and emotions, we can enjoy being alone, and can also strengthen our mind with such exercises.

What should the government do to reduce noise pollution?

The government must impose strict rules to curb noise pollution. They should declare clear and strict guidelines for noise levels at various places. Those who breach these rules should be penalized in order to keep noise levels under control.

What is the future of meditation according to you?

I believe that meditation is the future of all mankind. Since the first day of human existence, we have been continuously evolving to achieve spiritual enlightenment in our lives, and meditation is the only tool to enhance our spiritual evolution. This is the reason why, I think, there will be a time when everyone will be practicing meditation to enhance their own spiritual evolution, as well as the collective spiritual evolution of humanity.
