Is it common for people to have gardens in your country?

I believe it all depends on which area you are residing in. In the countryside, every house is surrounded by a garden and the locals grow a lot of fruit trees or vegetables. But in urban areas, due to the dense population, few houses have gardens. Urban people grow vegetables in pots placed on balconies or terraces. Sometimes their so-called garden is just a collection of artificial hanging plants.

Which plants are important to the economy in your country?

Rice plays a vital role in the daily life of people in my country because it’s our main food. In addition, my country is one of the largest rice exporters in the world, therefore, economy depends quite a lot on this plant. The rice fields are the symbol of the village, and they can be found in any rural area in my country, I believe.

Is gardening popular in your country?

Yes, it is. I think it is one of the most popular pastime activities in my country. I thought gardening is only popular with older generations in my country. But now young people are becoming increasingly fanatical about horticulture. Maybe this trend is related to the fact that more people are aware of the benefits of consuming organic food while buying those things is very expensive. It’s also a good way to get away from computer screens and other devices and help us let our hair down.

In your opinion, why is it important to grow plants?

As far as I’m concerned, as humans, we need to grow plants to survive on our planet. From an environmental perspective, plants can purify the air and provide shade. Not only that, growing a plant, watering it daily, and ensuring it stays healthy help us learn how to be caring, be patient, and feel a sense of relaxation.

Have you ever received a plant as a gift?

I’ve never received a plant as a gift in my whole life. My family and friends read me like a book, and they acknowledge that I’m not the type of guy who has green fingers. To be honest, I usually only get common gifts like clothes, shoes, or watches. However, if I were given a plant, I’d be thrilled and grateful.

I’m going to tell you about a sweet and romantic period of my life- the story about my first boyfriend! I was 16 at the time and completely smitten (in love). Since neither of us worked at the time, we would always make each other gifts for special occasions, such as anniversaries, birthdays, or the holidays. I’ll tell you about one gift that I’ll never forget.

He made me a collage (art made with several cut up pictures) of all the stages of our friendship and relationship. He must have gone to a print shop to print out all these pictures that carefully cut them out and made a tasteful wall collage with them. The special part of the gift was that he formed the letters of our names out of pictures, Anna and Dave. I thought this was a really creative way to celebrate our love.

Looking back, this gift is a bit corny (foolish or not tasteful), but at that time I felt completely blown away (really happy and surprised) by it. We had been friends since we were children, so we had a ton of memories together. Furthermore, our relationship was 4 years long! I liked that he was thoughtful enough to put the effort into this kind of gift. Moreover, I felt really emotional looking at the way he told the story of our friendship that turned into love through photos. In conclusion, these sort of acts were the key to my heart as a teen girl!

Have you received anything that was handmade by the person who gave it to you?

Yes, I have received handmade cards many times from my students. But I particularly remember a time when I received the handmade bag from my friend. It was finished to the minutest details and it was made as if it was tailored for me. I still carry it with pride wherever I go. It is a very smart shoulder sling bag

When receiving a gift, do you prefer something that was self-made, or something bought in stores?

When I receive gift, it is the intention that matters to me the most not whether it is expensive or inexpensive. When I know I am receiving something from a friend who has made it for me sparing his or her time it certainly feels good but the giver should be as happy to give as I am to receive. That matters to me the most.

Which is better, self-made food or food that you buy?

When it comes to food, I always prefer self-made food and I enjoy the compliments I receive after the guests relish the food that I serve. I certainly love to cook at home rather than buying food from the market or opening the packet and eating the food that is stuffed with preservatives and harmful additives. But sometimes when I am busy at work I can buy food from outside but I am very selective about the food being freshly cooked.
