IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTO PART

May I know your full name?

My full name is Bhupinder kumar.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Bhupinder.

Can I see you ID?

Here is my passport.

Where do you come from?

I am from Pharwara.

Do you like robots?

Yes I like robots as they can do so much for us these days. There are simple robots to clean the houses and sophisticated ones to perform surgeries.

What kind of robot would you like to have?

Recently, I have heard about a robot that cleans your home. I would like to buy one. It is like an automatic vacuum cleaner that picks up the dirt from all the nooks and corners.

Will robots change society significantly?

Yes, robots will bring changes in society. In fact, they have already done so. Most of the jobs that were done manually earlier are now performed with the help of robotics and with more precision.

Do you play any indoor games?

Yes, I play carom board and cards with my siblings and parents.

Do you prefer to play indoor games or outdoor games?

It depends on the weather outside. On hot summer afternoons, I play indoor games. But, when the weather is good, I play cricket and badminton outside with my friends.

What indoor games did you play when you were a child?

I played carom board, Ludo and snakes and ladders as a child.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Talk about an English lesson you enjoyed.

You should say –

– who gave the lecture?

– when did you attend?

– where did you attend?

– also, explain, why do you think the lecture was enjoyable?

SAMPLE ANSWER

The corporate world is amazing and just like any other world; the initial years are the best years of it. When I joined a corporate company in my country, they provided us with the initial 6 months of training. In those training days, we were not only taught the technology part but also the soft skills. In one of the lectures, a woman came into our room and asked what we thought of her.

To all our surprise, we had no answers and she went on to say that often we do not express ourselves in order to avoid offending other people. Moving on, she divided our entire class into four parts and held a quiz. We had grammar quiz, vocabulary quiz, authors quiz and so much more. When the session got completed, she said, well this all that I had to teach you.

The reason I enjoyed the lecture was that we could find out what we already know. There was more of learning than repeating. For example, most of us knew what noun is and so there was no point in her teaching that. It was this smartness of her that really made a mark on me. More importantly, we all were starting our careers, the initial years and she said when she was about to leave, work hard but do not forget to enjoy life. She taught us self-confidence and the true way of leading life.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What do you think makes a good lesson?

I think a good lesson is one that is interesting and engaging. By ‘engaging’ I mean that the students should feel involved in the lesson; they should feel that they are learning something new that is relevant to them. In my opinion, a lot depends on how the teacher delivers the content of the lesson in a way that students like. My favourite teacher at university used to involve the students by making us teach some of the lessons ourselves.

Do you think it’s better to have a teacher or to teach yourself?

Well, there’s no substitute for a good teacher. I think you can teach yourself, but you can learn a lot more quickly with the guidance of a teacher. For example, when learning a language, you really need someone to correct your mistakes; you can get the grammar and vocabulary from books, but books can’t tell you where you’re going wrong.

Do you think the traditional classroom will disappear in the future?

I don’t think it will disappear, but it might become less common. I think more people will study independently, using different technologies rather than sitting in a classroom. Maybe students will attend a lesson just once a week, and spend the rest of their time following online courses or watching video lessons.
