PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your first name?
My first name is Mark.

What is your last name?
My last name is Arthur. It represents our family name and title.

May I see your proof of identification?
Sure, here you are.

What is the meaning of your name?
Mark is a common male name in our country. This name derived from old Latin word “Mart-kos”, which originally means “consecrated to the god Mars”. It also means “God of war” or “to be warlike”.  Marcus was one of the three most common given names in Ancient Rome and the name Mark in modern time actually derived from that name. When friends say that I am to be warlike, I say them, ‘No I am a fighter.’

Is your name important to you?
Yes, definitely. This name represents me. To the world, I am Mark Arthur. So this means a lot to me.

Why do so many people change their names?
I think there are various reasons for people to change their names. Some people simply hate their original names and think their names are too outdated. They want to get the feeling of some modern names. For some, this could be the reason for changing their identity. Some women might change their names after marriage or some might change it after migrating to a new country. Religious belief could be another reason why some people might change their names. Finally, some might change their name only to show their status.

How have you reached here today?
Well, after I got ready I took a taxi and that dropped me in front of this building. The traffic on the road was better than usual. So I reached here pretty comfortably.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe an ideal house

You should say:

– where it is

– what it looks like

– when you would like to live in

– And explain why you would like to live in it

SAMPLE ANSWER

So I’m going to talk about the perfect house that I would like to live in. I would like it to be spacious, comfy and tranquil and it should therefore be located in a rural area with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

Painted white and pink, the house would somehow look like a little palace for a royal family. Natural light is a must for this house, and it must contain an effective window system for good ventilation. The house would be equipped with modern appliances and air-conditioning for comfort and convenience. Trees and flowers would be planted around it for decoration and to make it look beautiful.

My ideal house, which would be full of natural light and surrounded by a lot of beautiful gardens, would be the perfect place for me when I am in need of relaxation, and an escape from my heavy workload in the city. I would be able to enjoy the fresh air, and living there would be the perfect way to relieve stress.

To be honest, having the chance to live in such a house would be a dream come true for me, feeling like a king in his own castle, and I hope that one day I can actually build a house like this to live in.

Our country has a diverse section of people living across, from different geographical backgrounds, people all over the country live in different kinds of home. People living in urban areas tend to live in apartments, while those living in rural areas, can either live in cottages or semi-detached house or a terraced house.

Do you think moving to a new home can bring problems to people?

Shifting is always a problem and involves a lot of things that need to be taken care of. But, if they are not taken care of properly, they tend to cause issues like management and adjustments. Some people face issues because they are not able to adjust to their new house. Or the new people around them!

Do you think people in your country like to live with their parents?

Most people in my country love to live with their parents, but then with the new generation and the concept of modernization and westernization creeping in, there are some people who tend to not live with their parents. They want to enjoy their own freedom and become more independent. Our country is seeing this shift, with more and more people moving towards the independent life style, whereas there are many who deep rootedly wish to live with their parents.
