IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Kulwinder Billiyan.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Kulwinder.

How often do you make telephone calls? [Why/Why not?]

I do not use a landline that much except for some official purposes, but I use a mobile phone very extensively and daily. I use the mobile phone to make or receive calls, send or receive text messages and sometimes to use the internet. I often play games on my mobile phone and listen to my favourite music. There is scarcely any day when I do not use it.

Who do you spend the most time talking to on the telephone? [Why?]

I believe that would be my mom. She is very close to me and starts worrying if she does not hear from me for more than a few hours. She calls me a few times each day whenever I am out and I can tell her virtually anything. For these reasons, she is the person I spend the most time talking to on a telephone or on a mobile phone.

When do you think you’ll next make a telephone call? [Why?]

I will call my mom after I leave the exam hall to let her know that I am fine and my exam went very well. I will call her as I am sure she is eagerly waiting to hear from me and to know how well I had performed in the exam.

Do you sometimes prefer to send a text message instead of telephoning? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, sometimes sending a text message is more convenient and makes more sense than calling someone. For instance, if I’m in a meeting or in a crowded place, I would prefer SMS than phone calls. Moreover, if I need to send an address, a number or an email ID, I would rather send a text message than to call the intended recipient.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

– and explain what you liked doing together in your childhood.

SAMPLE ANSWER

The school days were the best days of life and I developed a friendship with some of my best friends. I still have my connection with them. Samuel Jones was one of them. He was my best friend in the school.

Jones was the smartest boy in the class and thus he developed a very good friendship with me. In fact, we had a strong bonding that lasted until the last day of school. After completing the education from school, he left for higher study in the USA and I remained here in Greece. But the communication between us is still strong and often we try to meet via the modern communication system and share our feelings and emotions as we did in the childhood.

The meeting with Jones was simple. I met him on the day of admission at the local elementary school in Athens. In fact, he was the son of my dad’s friend. But we did not know each other before the day of admission. Later, we got admitted and days passed on. The friendship between us grew stronger. Interestingly, Jones and his family became my neighbour. Consequently, we moved to school together. Playing at the local playground was our routine task in the evening.

We have been friends for over 17 years. I had met him when I was four or five years of old. I exactly cannot remember the date and time of our meeting. But since then, we are sharing a very intimate relationship. He is the closest friend of mine and even more close than my other family members.

When he was my neighbour, he used to come to my home and I also went to him. Sometimes, his parents also came to visit us while we were invited to different social functions at their residence. Everything went very well until he left the country for higher education. But his family is still my neighbour and the relations are the same as before.

Both of us were fond of watching cartoons, particularly the Tom and Jerry Show. This was the most important task for us and we did not miss any of the episodes of the series. We also used to complete our home works for the school and read comic books. sometimes we had quarrels over sharing the comic book with others and the quarrel lasted for a couple of days. Besides, we also used to bunk classes together whenever we felt boring in the class or forgot to bring home works or any other assignments. But the consequences were harmful to our health. Besides, there were many other activities that we took part in. Now, I miss those days very badly.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Is it important for children to have friends?

Yes it is very important for children to have friends as it has lot of benefits like children can play or study with friends and utilize their time in quality manner. Secondly they can share their secrets with friends and learn about skills like teamwork and sharing. Friends also help in developing good communication skills

Do you still keep in touch with friends from your childhood?

Yes I am still in touch with my school friends, thanks to social networking websites like Face book. We normally talk about the things we used to do when we were little. We remember the old memories and laugh at them sometimes.

Should teenagers have lots of friends or few good friends?

I think having few good friends is always better than having a large number of friends. Few good friends give one a feeling of security and trust. Good friends are someone on whom one can always rely whereas lot of friends makes friendship superficial.

Are teenagers more influenced by their peers or their parents?

According to me it depends with whom the teenagers are spending more time with, if they are spending more time with their friends than they will be mostly influenced by them but if their parents spend more time then they will be influenced by the parents.
