PART – 1 INTRO PART
What is your full name?
My name is Shagufta Khan.
Can I see your ID?
Yes, of course, here’s my ID.
Where are you from?
I am from Baroda.
Do you work or study?
I am studying in Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the moment at M.S. University here in Baroda.
Is cooking popular in your country?
Yes, I think it’s popular. Most young girls learn from their mother or grandmother about how to cook the most popular dishes.
Who normally does the cooking in your house?
My mother does most of it-although I often help her when I’ve time, or if we’re having a large meal together as a family.
Would you like to learn how to cook?
I would like to learn to cook food of other countries, maybe Chinese cuisine, which is quite popular here among some people in my country.
Why do you want to learn cooking?
I think cooking can be a creative activity, when it is not just for feeding the family every day. I find it relaxing when I do it for fun and like to experiment with different ingredients.
Do you think cooking programs on TV are useful?
I think they are interesting and can give you some motivation to try different things. My problem is I can never remember all the details that I see. It’s only the idea or so when I try to make something it never turns out the same as it did when the chef on TV did it.
What is the advantage of a TV cooking program?
I think they can give you lots of ideas about different cuisines to try and you can also learn some good cooking tips, but I also like to have a recipe book or I download recipes from the internet – it’s easier to follow them like that.

SAMPLE ANSWER:-
I wanted to become an astronaut. Since childhood, I had been dreaming of travelling in space. However, for some reason, I could not realize my dream. In mid-eighties, the first Indian astronaut, Rakesh Sharma travelled in space and he was a talk of the town then. This event motivated me further to become an astronaut because I wanted my fellow citizens should know me in the country and people could look up to me.
When I was a child, I remember watching certain shows on television and one among them as ‘Giant Robot’. This show was not linked to Astronomy at all but it inspired me enough to learn about the maze (= complex network, labyrinth) of other planets. I always imagined having fun to travel in space and I kept this dream alive for long only to witness the waning hopes (=diminish, shrink) later on.
Some people are born with lofty dreams. I was one among them. I always wanted to do something for which I could be remembered plus desired to uncover something unique that was never done by anyone. What is more, yet I believe it’s an exciting job to land on other planets and try to learn the life there. I believed things or possible aliens on other planets were just like other neighbors of ours. Knowing them could possibly open a new chapter of learning.
You really need to ask this question to my parents (jokingly). When I shared my dreams with them, they laughed at my plans. I remember my father saying, “Son, there are many other worthwhile jobs you could do to earn spread and butter. In our country, we’ve no sufficient resources and facilities to support your dream. Nor do I’ve plenty of money to spend after your wacko (=stupid, wild) dream.”
I don’t regret that I couldn’t realize this dream. Nor do I curse my folks for not supporting my dreams. India then was quite different than what it is today. Today such dreams can be realized because there’s a lot of support available from parents and external sources to do whatever a promising child wants. I still remember my parents though sustaining their and our lives, and prioritized. Understandably, many others including me had to forsake (= abandon, leave) their dreams then.
PART – 3 FOLLOWUPS
Do you think children should have ambitious?
Without any equivocations, children must have ambitious. Life without ambition leads nowhere.
Do you think parents should stop children from thinking too big?
I don’t think so. I believe children should be allowed to think big but at the same time, they must be shown some sort of reality from time to time. If we could coach them to achieve their dreams by taking tiny steps toward their goal, things may start falling in to place. The legendary Chinese philosopher rightly quoted, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
I truly second (= support, agree) this quote. To achieve big in life, the first qualification that is sought is ‘dreaming’ and then ‘executing’. The history only remembers who thinks and does out of the box and I believe parents must facilitate their child to be one among them. To add in, in the event of failure, we must teach them to stay calm, and instill a brand new confidence to do new things again.
What is the importance of having an ambition?
Life without any ambition is futile (= pointless). The ambition shows light tour life. Life is journey not a destination. It’s essential that the child stands on his own feet, and remains grounded in all occasions and whenever opportunity knocks the door, answer it. These days we go through too many political, economic and financial crises and in order to safeguard ourselves from such uncertainties, it needs to have a stable career.
Only the right ambition guarantees a stable and better career otherwise children not only become burden to themselves but also others get ground in the family.
What are the advantages of feeling ambitious towards work?
The first thing is you feel confident and self-reliant. When we see desired outcomes from our ambitious plans, it inspires us to climb another step of success ladder. This is how the person grows and reaches the feat (= achievement) of success by means of perseverance (=persistence, tenacity). The ambitious people enjoy a respectable endorsement for their dignity of work.
They’re well placed to help others in the society , and to some extent, it also helps the country to grow economically. These are the people who are epitome (= embodiment, paragon, personification) of country’s growth engine and set a good example in the society.
