IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Rakesh Kundra.

Can I see your ID?

Certainly, here is my passport.

Where are you from?

I’m from Ahmadabad.

Do you work or study?

I am an industrial chemist.

Do you enjoy your work? Why?

Initially, I did enjoy but with time I am losing interest.

What was your favorite activity when you were a child?

As a child, we had plenty of outdoor activities because internet and computers were not that popular then. Most of the time, we spent time going to parks or visiting the zoo or playing around with friends. My favorite activity was playing cricket with my friends.

What do you think children prefer: outdoor or indoor activities? Why?

I think they like both, don’t they? But it all depends on a child. These days most of the kids are glued to the computer or the phone screen playing games on the internet or video games. There are kids who have parents keeping a check on the internet usage so they do get time for outdoor activities.

How have kids’ activities changed since you were a child?

Earlier kids had more time for their hobby classes or sports but these days with the kind of competition they are facing at the academic front which is so stressful that they barely get any time for any other extra activities.

When you were a child who taught you to be polite?

Actually nobody really taught us, this came to me pretty naturally as I grew up seeing my parents being polite and giving respect to others.

Why is it important to be polite to people?

Well, as someone said you exactly get what you give so if you want respect you need to give it first. It represents the culture and etiquettes of your family and roots. Some people are very rough in their behavior and they get nothing by being aggressive.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Goals play a significant role in a person’s life. I think without goals, life is useless because if a person set a goal, then he/ she work hard to achieve it; otherwise, he wastes time in unnecessary things.

I have a goal in my life, and it is to have a successful business. Actually, I want to open a boutique. I started preparation for that business from last year. I completed only one third because of the lockdown everything was closed, and only a few days ago the market is reopened. I faced many other problems such as stuff, employees, designing material and so on because all these things come from other states.

I tried my best; now the government reopened some facilities so I again start preparing and try to complete within two months so that I can open it as soon as possible. I know many shops are available in the market which provides a variety of cloths by nowadays people find some traditional fabrics with a designer look. So, my shop to be about traditional material with a new look.

I do not shop there even I also planning to promote my business online through YouTube. I think I would be a good platform not only to publish the material, but people can quickly get new information about my shop. I know I required a lot of efforts and patience, but I will wait for that day when it happens.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What kinds of jobs do young people not want to do in your country?

Well, in my country, we have almost always had a big problem of unemployment among young people, and therefore, there aren’t exactly too many jobs that they don’t want to do. However, as far as I have found out, jobs like “outside sales”, “medical representatives” and other “service-oriented” jobs, that require longer hours of work, are not looked upon very favourably by the young adults in my country. They don’t also like “elementary teaching” job because they require a lot of patience (after all, teaching little kids can be really challenging).

Who is best at advising young people about choosing a job: teachers or parents?

In my humble opinion, teachers are best at advising young people about choosing a job primarily because they are usually the ones who work tirelessly at schools and colleges to unlock the potentials of young adults. Besides, through the continuous interaction with their students in classes, it is the teachers who are better positioned to identify the skills and expertise of the young people and thus being able to guide them to choose careers that are suitable for them.

Is money always the most important thing when choosing a job?

No, I don’t really think that money is “always” (“always” is the keyword here) the most important thing, when choosing a job, primarily because money doesn’t always buy “happiness” or the “ job satisfaction” no matter how much of it, we really have. Besides, if I am being paid a lot of “money”, but what I do as a “job” is not considered to be “important”, then the chances are that I won’t be able to perform to my full potential despite my best intention. Money is an important thing for us to do a job but I do not believe that it is the most important aspect of a job.
