IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Komud Kumar.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Komud.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Where is your hometown?

My hometown is on the south-east coast of Northern Ireland. It’s called Dundrum and it’s about 1 hour south of the capital city.

What do you not like about it?

It can be a little bit boring because it’s really tiny. There are only a few small shops and a couple of pubs and that’s it! In the summer, it’s OK because you can enjoy the outdoors but it would be nice to have a few more indoor facilities for the winter.

How often do you visit your hometown?

Not as much as I should. I only get to visit about once a year now to see my family because I’m really busy with work and it’s quite far away, but I hope to visit more in the future.

What’s the oldest part of your hometown?

There is an old Norman castle that sits on top of the highest hill of the town. It’s a ruin now, but there are some breath taking views from it and it’s easy to see why they chose that site for a castle, because you can see for miles around.

Do many people visit your town?

Thousands of tourists visit every summer. They come from the capital city mostly to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the peace and quiet. There are more and more international tourists visiting because lots of scenes from the TV show ‘Game of Thrones’ were shot just outside the village.

Is there any way your hometown could be made better?

As I said before, the best thing about the town is its rural beauty and you can’t really improve that. If I had to say something, it would be to improve the roads; they are in a terrible state and cause a few car accidents every year.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Some days ago, I promised to guide my boyfriend and his closest friend around Singapore when life returned to normality after Covid-19. While I was scrolling through my old photos in Singapore, my boyfriend caught me doing it and asked whether I would like to bring him and his friend to Singapore next time. I said yes without hesitation. Bringing my friends to Singapore to introduce them to its modern beauty and advanced technology, especially the world-renowned Changi Airport.

Actually there were a bunch of people there, but I only made this promise to my boyfriend and his closest friend. I didn’t want to bring too many people overseas as things might get out of hand.

Since I am a tourism major and have accumulated a great deal of experience in travelling around Singapore thanks to my 8 trips to this tiny city-state, I guess bringing only 2 more people along with me to Singapore wouldn’t be a great deal. However, the only thing I’m concerned about now is the lingering Covid-19 pandemic, which has brought international travel to a halt and is yet to show any sign of slowing down.

Singapore is always an ideal destination for a short weekend getaway for Vietnamese people as it is only two hours from Vietnam. Also, thanks to my knowledge about Singapore, I can be sure that if I ever make this promise, I know the likelihood of me going back on my word is low and that I won’t make me, my boyfriend and his friend disappointed.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Generally speaking, do Indian parents make promises to children?

Definitely Yes. Indian parents make promise several times with their kids sometimes that want to motivate, or sometimes they wish to give them a lesson.

Do children also make promises to their parents?

Frankly speaking, every child makes a promise to their parents. Sometimes they mean it and sometimes they just promise to make their parents satisfy.

Do most people fulfill their promises?

Well, it all depends upon person to person. Still, in my opinion, most people have meant of their promise.
