IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Gurleen Bhatia.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Gurleen.

Can I see your ID?

Sure, this is my passport.

Where do you live?

I live in Pune.

How often do you read?

As a final year student I spend most of my time on reading, especially textbooks and other reference books that my lecturers recommend in the reading list. I’m also a fan of novels or fictions, but only during summer break that I have time to read them.

Do you have many books at home

Totally. I’m a bookaholic to be honest. I enjoy going to annual book fairs where they usually run big sales to get lots of books without much worries ‘bout the price. Since my parents are also book-nerds, I think the number of books we have is even enough to open a bookstore.

What kind of people like reading and what kind of people don’t like reading very much?

From my point of view, I think book-nerds are those who prefer putting themselves into the character’s shoe, you know, they wanna interact with the story, the characters on their own way. Some of them love to imagine how the story is supposed to continue while some keep wondering what they would do if the drama suddenly happened in their real life. Those who do not like to read are either too busy with their life that they even can’t remember the characters’ names, or they prefer listening, I mean, they have someone read the story and tell them the ending only.

What colors do you like?

Since my taste always changes, my favourite color at the moment is black. Although I have just bought some black items recently, black surprisingly suits me. It feels like I become more mature and more mysterious when wearing a black dress. And because it’s one of the basic colors, it’s easy to mix and match with other items of different colors and styles.

Do colors affect your mood?
Actually, the converse effect is more suitable for me, especially when it comes to shopping. I don’t think I’d feel happier when I look at a pink-colored shirt or feel pulled-down when I wear a gray cardigan. So no, I don’t think color is related to my feelings inside.

Are colours important to you?
I suppose so. You know, different colours convey different meaning to people. Red represents passion and enthusiasm while green can be energetic. So I always choose the most suitable colours for things.

Were colours important to you when you were a child?
Well, yes, I have several blue clothes when I wear them I tend to feel calmer and more tranquil. I believe that blue is always a fashionable choice for a man’s outfit.

Do you prefer light or dark (or, bright) colours?
If I had to choose between the two, I’ll probably go with dark colours because I believe dark colours represent stability and wisdom, for example I would always choose a dark outfit for my office to highlight my professionalism, whereas light suits are more suitable for the younger generation.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe a time you needed to use imagination
You should say:

– what the situation was

– why you needed to use imagination

– what the difficulties were

– and explain how you felt about it.

I would like to talk about the time I had to get out of my comfort zone to join an Innovation Challenge Contest which made me think out of the box and work flat out to become the runner-up.

This annual contest is open to all undergraduates and post-graduates around the world. Each year this contest draws the attention of more than 30 000 people so it was really competitive and challenging for me. Therefore, when I was awarded the runner-up prize, I was deliriously happy and extraordinarily excited. The goal of the Challenge was to recognize individuals and organizations that were working on internet-based solutions to promote education and economic empowerment in countries throughout the world. Therefore, it really required creativity and imagination from each team joining the contest. I had to buckle down and brainstorm ideas for the challenge until I came up with the best one to be accepted for 4 consequent rounds.

At the end of the day, my team and I had really gone extra miles to become the runners-up and it was really an unforgettable experience to me. After all, I can take pride in myself for all the thing I achieved with my imagination and creativity.
