IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your full name?

My name is Dunika Dhokila.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Dunika.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here you go.

Did you save money when you were young?

I always used to save money when I was younger. I understood it to be a good practice and saved my pocket money, award amounts, or any money that I received as a gift. Those saved amounts of money have helped me a lot during my time of need.

Have you ever given money to other children?

No, I have never given money to any other children, as I spent money only with my parent’s permission, and never digressed from the original spending purpose agreed upon, along with my parents. I have always politely refused any other children who have come to ask me for money.

IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

Do you think parents should teach children to save money?

Yes, I think that parents should teach children to save money. It is a very good practice that not only secures our future but also disciplines us by teaching self-control and introspection. All of us should learn about saving money and enjoy the benefits it brings along.

Do parents give children pocket money in your home?

Yes, parents do give children pocket money in my home. I and all my siblings used to get a certain amount of money every month, which was always lesser than our expectations on purpose. This was done in order to teach us control on expenses, and the practice of saving.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Unquestionably, family is the most valuable thing for almost every individual. It is entirely unimaginable to live without my family for me. So, if I have to talk about one person I admire the most, that would be my sister. Although she is 11 years younger than me, this massive age gap doesn’t pose a hurdle between us in any way.

As much as I can recall, I was on the ninth cloud when she came into our lives. When she was a toddler, I was already in my teens. Thus, I used to try and overpower her, demonstrating my teenage qualities and authority over her.

However, despite all of it, I love her unconditionally. When she grew up, she started displaying understanding attributes. And today, now that I have entered my adult years and have gone through all those years she is currently relishing, I try and be as lenient yet considerate as possible.

One of the things that are lacking, though, is the time we spent together. She is held up with her school from dawn to dusk and then extra tuitions. Thus, we only get to spend a few hours together during the night. Even then, because of our excessive exhaustion from a prolonged day, we doze off quickly. So, I would like to spend more time with her.

All in all, one of the best qualities that I admire the most in her is maturity. She is thoughtful and empathetic towards others. Through my experiences, I have taught her how to be brave and deal with the world more meticulously. So, looking at her, being bold with every passing day, fills me up with a sense of pride.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What kind of people become famous people these days?

Answer: Well, in this age of media and publicity, anybody can be famous overnight, even though such fame may not last long. But, generally speaking, people, who are role models or have the potential to be role models, become famous these days.

Such role models would be movie stars, sports superstars, technology “gurus”, entrepreneurs, and business tycoons, among others. These types of people, mentioned above, become role models or remain famous, not because of just some luck, but because of some hard work, determination and discipline.

Q. Is this different from the kind of achievement that made people famous in the past? In what way?

Answer: No, I wouldn’t really say that any “substantive or qualitative” difference exists between the achievements of the people in the past and the achievements of the present time, meaning people needed to try and work just as hard in the past just as it is today.

Of course, the achievements in the past wouldn’t necessarily attract as much media coverage or attention as it is today. Besides, some people would also probably argue that people in the past would strive more to be famous and successful in the greater cause of humanity, world fraternity and philanthropy, but in the present day, people’s success or fame are more geared toward “individualism” or personal gratification.

IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

Q. How do you think people will become famous in the future?

Answer: Nobody, for sure, can tell how people would become famous in the future, but one thing is for sure more and more people would try to use media, or I should say “misuse” media, especially the internet, to showcase their success and become famous, quickly and easily.

But, critically speaking, I think that in the future, people would have more and more uncommon and unconventional issues, such as environmental activism and sexual “revolution”, to thump on in order to become famous.

Q. What are the good things about being famous? Are there any disadvantages?

Answer: I think we all want to be famous in one way or another because being famous has some distinct advantages. One such advantage is that famous people usually have a large fan base with some die-hard fans who would be ready to do anything for their role models or idols. They can also get many favourable business deals while making easy money. It also comes with social importance and prestige.

But, being famous has some disadvantages too. One such disadvantage is that they are always in the spotlight, and as such, they have almost no or very limited privacy. Another problem is that famous people can easily get detached from the “grim” realities of life while becoming used to some destructive lifestyles.
