PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Arshdeep Kaur.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Arshdeep.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here you go.

Do you like painting or drawing?
Drawing has always been a passion since I was a child. It was a good opportunity for me to have drawing a compulsory subject in my primary and secondary school. Although as a university student, I can’t spend hours on drawing, once I have inspiration, I would definitely manage my time to draw. Additionally, I’m not good at painting so I think drawing is fairly enough.

How often do you visit art galleries?
To tell you the truth, I have never visited art galleries before. Unless I have a guide to acknowledge me, art galleries would be quite boring for me.

What kinds of things do you like to draw?
My main inspiration are Japanese manga. The drawing topic is extremely varied, however only manga seems to show great potency for my level. I have a big collection at home and as I sometimes go through it again, I can see how much I’ve improved.

Is it easy to learn how to draw?
I think I must say it’s even challenging to a lot of people. I absolutely failed when it comes to drawing anything ‘real’ like people, trees and flowers. I think for those who succeed in drawing or arts in general, they first must have God-gifted taste of arts, then comes the long-term commitment that requires extreme practice and high patience.

Does it rain much in your country? (Where? When?)
I would say yes. It rains a lot in the summer when tropical storms strike our country. There is torrential rain in the region in June, July and August, and the rainfall tends to be higher in the North than in the South.

Is there any part of your country where it doesn’t rain much?
To tell you the truth, I have no clue about this. I do not give a hoot about geography and the amount of rain in my country. I think the most rainfall is in the North where there is an intricate system of rivers.

Does it rain a lot in your hometown?
Well, it depends on the season. In winter and spring, there is a dearth of rain associated with the arid weather. In contrast, it is usually raining cats and dogs in summer and august, causing loads of troubles for people travelling on the road.

Can you remember any time when it rained particularly heavily in your hometown?
That would be last summer. I was going to work and then all of a sudden it started to rain, followed by a deluge. I was soaked to the skin and couldn’t attend a very important meeting.

Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown?
Yeah, of course. Traffic is often held up when it rains. All the roads are clogged, and people find it difficult to escape from traffic congestion. I would stay at home and watch TV rather than going out and being caught up in traffic.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe what you think would be the perfect job (or “dream job”) for you.

You should say:

– what job it would be (or is)

– what you would do in this job

– what skills you would need to learn for this job

– and explain why you think this would be the perfect job for you.

It has always been my dream to be a singer ever since I was a child. When I was a kid I used to be a singing talent. I would win many singing competitions and represented the school in the choir. However, because of the pressure of the College Entrance Exam I had to stop singing and focus on my studies to go to a good university.

The main reason why I’d like to be a singer is because it would allow me to inspire the world. I’m quite fond of the idea that people would be listening to my songs and trying to be more like me-a nice guy.

These days, the only time I sing is probably in the shower or when I’m at a karaoke bar with my friends. I even had a plan for how to spend all the money I would make once I became famous guess, I’ll have to earn money the old-fashioned way now- by starting my own company. If I had a chance, I would definitely choose to be a singer but I’m still quite realistic and that’s why I’m going abroad to study business.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What kind of jobs do young people prefer?
The young generation likes to do jobs that involve creativity and where they can work independently. They also look for jobs that are well paid and require less physical effort. In our country, most of the graduates are employed in the IT industry. I think they like to work as programmers or IT administrators.

Some people will lose their jobs because of technology, how to deal with it?
I think it is the responsibility of the government to skill these people on new technologies so that they can find new jobs. Otherwise, there would-be large-scale unemployment, which would be detrimental to society.

Will you settle down in another country?
Yes, if I get a good job opportunity in a developed country, I would like to settle there. I feel if a person does not settle early then he or she will never achieve success and will always lead a stressful life.

How do young people today decide their career?
The present generation has a lot of options when it comes to deciding their career. In the past, the young looked up to their family members while deciding their career but nowadays the youth have a lot of role models from different fields and they make their own decisions. Some of them also like to explore different jobs before finalizing on one. Moreover, they also do a lot of research looking at future prospects of different jobs.
