IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

Can you tell me your full name, please?

Sure! My full name is ………

What shall I call you?

Please call me “……” Thank you.

May I see your identification?

Sure, here you go.

What kinds of thing make you laugh?

They say that laughter is a great medicine, and I also believe it. So, I like to laugh whether my friend is cracking a joke or watching a comedy movie with my family and friends. But, what really makes me laugh the most is the funny activities of my pet cat. In fact, my cat makes so many “funny” moves to make me laugh that I even record them on my video camera.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Do you like making other people laugh? [Why/Why not?]

Well, it depends on how much I actually know them, and what kind of circumstances are prevailing. But, in principle, I don’t really like to make people laugh because sometimes, the humorous act might actually offend them, since I wouldn’t really know what they have been going through, or what kind of mood they are really in.

Are you happy to be the age you are now? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I am happy about my age. I also tend to agree that people may have different perspectives on this. I am content with my current age because of the experiences and wisdom I have gained during the last 30 years or so.

When you were a child, did you think a lot about your future? [Why/Why not?]

As a younger child, I did not have a deep understanding of the concept of the future. But when I turned a teenager, I started contemplating my future goals, aspirations, and career paths. My family, teachers, and personal curiosity also shaped the way I thought about my future during this time.

Do you think you have changed as you have got older? [Why/Why not?]

I believe that it is common for individuals to experience changes as they grow older, and I am not an exception to this. I have experienced physical changes, such as appearance and health, as well as emotional and psychological changes. My life experiences, learning, and personal development have also shaped my perspectives, values, and beliefs, leading to changes in my behaviour and attitudes.

What will be different about your life in the future? [Why?]

I have always believed that the future is uncertain, and it is challenging to predict specific aspects of my life. However, some possible differences in my future could arise from various factors such as career choices, personal goals, relationships, and so on. For example, I will love to start a family soon and or pursue higher education in the UK.

– What type of club it is?

– What is your involvement there?

– And explain why it is important to you.

SAMPLE ANSWER

During my graduation days, I was an active member of the college youth club as I took part in various extra-curricular activities and organized youth clubs as well. Here I would like to talk about a Youth Cultural Club which I was a part of. It was basically a club that encouraged university students to participate in cultural activities. The students irrespective of their field, organized and participated in the events organized by the club such as youth festivals, inter-college competitions.

I was a member of this club for nearly three years. Coming from a commerce and business background, my involvement was basically towards the promotion and management of events organized by the association.  It aimed at enhancing the personal skills and talents of the students thereby boosting their self-confidence, teamwork and time management skills.

I felt responsible and mature enough when we had to collaborate for the entire team and worked day and night to make our cultural events a huge success. After graduating, though I’m no longer an active member of the club, I still feel very passionate about everything that I’ve learned there.

The cultural club was a crucial part of my college days as I learned a lot about self-discipline, creativity and facing obstacles during events. Being a part of this club helped me realize that life isn’t a bed of roses and once has to come across criticism from time to time. Before joining this organization, I was more of an introvert but it helped mold my personality and I got great exposure by being a member of this club.
