PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Balpreet Singh.

Can I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in?
I live in a large house with my family members. This is a two-storey building with more than 8 rooms. I live on the first floor and this room is comparatively smaller than other rooms. It is a south-facing room with a beautiful garden and lake view. As I am still a student, the room gives the impression that a student lives there.

How long have you lived there?
I have been living in this house since my childhood and I got my own room when I was around 9 years old. I still live in this room.

What do you like about living there?
The room is quite comfortable and has got a beautiful view. I can easily reach the rooftop from my room and I like spending time there. The room has got two large windows and allows enough sunlight and air. I have been living in this room for many years and I love this room a lot.

What do you dislike about living there?
Well, I am quite happy with my room except that it is not large enough. This is the only aspect I dislike about this room. Not that it is that much small but I have a personal preference for living in a large room.

What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?
I like to live in a large house than living in a small house or in an apartment. The house must have a large garden in front of it and should be situated far away from the main road. Having a fountain in the garden would be a bonus for me. I would also prefer to live in such a house that offers enough sunlight and air.

Describe the room you live in?
Well, it is a medium-size square room which is in the northern part of the house. It is on the first floor and this is the room I have been living for a long time. It has got two windows, an attached bathroom, and it is painted with light green colour.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe a photo of yourself that you like

You should say:

when the photo was taken

how this photograph was taken

where the photo was taken

who took the photo

and explain why the photo was taken or why you think it is a good photo

SAMPLE ANSWER

The photo I would like to describe is a scenic, which was just taken by my phone. Although this photo is just a normal scenic, it was taken in a special place, which is on helicopter. In summer holiday last year, my roommate and I decide to go to America for a one-month travelling.

When we arrived there, we heard from local that Grand Canyon is the most famous attraction in California. People living there suggested us that viewing canyon scenery from sky was the best choice. And we felt really moved and interested in their words. So we immediately booked tickets for sky tour of Grand Canyon. Originally, I planned to enjoy the first time of the sky tour, but actually the helicopter shaked heavily and it was difficult to take any photos during flying.

This made me dizzy. You know, I looked outside the window and enjoyed views by eyes without taking any photos. Luckily, after we got off from the helicopter, my roommate told me that she used her phone, taking a photo for me. The photo has splendid background of the whole Grand Canyon and I was looking at the window. I love this photo and use it as my desktop until now.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Do you like to take photographs? Why?

If it were 3 to 4 years ago the answer would be a big no. But now it has become one of my hobbies and I’m actually thinking of learning more about it. I had no idea what I can do with my iPhone until I learned to make use of its wonderful camera as well as some miracle apps. Unlike some people, I indeed want my photos to

Do you prefer to take photos yourself or to have other people take your photos? Why?

It would be way more comfortable taking photos myself, as I can see crystal-clear how ridiculous my face expression looks like or if there’s something on my hair or stuck between my teeth. And in case it’s a scenery photo, I can apply the techniques I’ve learned to produce stunning photos.

How long have you liked taking photographs?

Just recently. As a final year student, I no longer can spend hours on drawing, reading or singing. Only photography which is way more instant suits me now to document my life. And as I enjoy my life on this campus, for example the road I walk to school everyday, the sunset, the rainbow, the trees, photography is the best way to store my memories.

In what situations do you take photographs?

As I’ve mentioned, I snap a photo of anything that catches my eyes when I’m in a good mood. So I take photos when my friends and I hang out or when I participate in social activities of the university and meet amazing people. However, when it comes to practicing for professional photography, I prefer taking photos of scenery and foods.

What kind of photos do you like to take? Why?

Food and scenery are definitely my inspiration. I just can’t sit still when beautiful breakfasts and stunning landscape keep appearing on my Instagram everyday. What is more, it is my natural instinct that helps me to go find the simple uniqueness of my university, namely the sunset, the lake, the trees and flowers and show people how beautiful my university is. However, I’m not good at taking photos of people so activities or street-life is not my style.

How (why) did you become interested in photography?

The situation was quite all of a sudden. I posted some scenery photos I took on the spur of the moment on Instagram and received lots of compliments, even from those whom I’m not following. Then I realized I should develop this skill, you know, should take it seriously and keep up the good work. And the more I learn about it, the more passionate I become.

How often do you take photographs?

Not too often I must say. Since I really don’t like posting boring photos with the same object all the time, so timing is everything. I believe my guts will know exactly when and how I should flick to produce high-quality photos.
