What do you use the computer for?

I am afraid to say that I use my computer mostly for watching movies as I have an eye problem. So, the doctor advised me to watch movies on a big screen, and also I prefer to watch a movie alone. So I mostly use my computer to watch Netflix series.

What was your impression when you used a computer the first time?

My first encounter with the computer was when I was studying in 4th standard …For me, the computer is almost like a TV …..But most of my attention was captured by the rat-like thing that’s a mouse. It has a blue and red color which was blinking, and moreover, I touched the keypad and gently I made a firm pressure in the icons and wrote down my name. It was really marvellous….now I’m flooded with my childhood memories.

India is a captivating and diverse nation, brimming with things to admire. However, when it comes to public transportation, particularly trains and buses, it’s a different story. Delays are a common occurrence due to factors like traffic, fog, and unexpected events.

IELTS Speaking Test

Today, I am going to talk about one time when I got delayed because of something unexpected. My family and I were on our way to Ahmedabad for my cousin’s wedding during the monsoon season. Although we were traversing through Rajasthan, known for its arid climate, nature decided to surprise us. Rain began pouring about five hours into our journey, persisting relentlessly. Initially, we hoped it would ease up soon, but it only intensified.

Eventually, our train halted at a station due to flooding ahead. According to a railway official, it was one of the worst floods in the state, submerging the tracks under several inches of water. I can vividly recall entering a railway office to inquire about the delay, witnessing a surreal scene with chairs floating and officials perched atop tables. It’s the first image that comes to mind when reminiscing about that journey.

Despite missing the wedding, we managed to attend the reception the following day. Oddly enough, the return journey doesn’t stand out in my memory. While the floods caused inconvenience, they also transformed the journey into a remarkable and unforgettable experience.

What are the main means of transport in your country?

The primary means of transport in India are definitely roadways and railways. Air travel is becoming popular but it is not the preferred option for majority of the population. It terms of public and private transport, I think large chunk of the population still depends on public transport.

What can the government do to improve transport in your country?

I think there are two things that government should do. Firstly, they should focus on making the experience of travelling on public transport more convenient and hassle free. They can achieve this by having better last time connectivity and increasing the frequency for public buses and trains. Secondly, they should make public transport more affordable so more and more people are encouraged to use it.

IELTS Speaking Test

Do you think travelling was better in the past than it is now?

Well it’s a yes and a no because in past there was less traffic on roads due to less number of vehicles so people never got stuck in traffic jams. But at the same time there was less connectivity between places so in some cases travelling from one place to another took more time.
