IELTS Speaking Test

Do you like art?

Yeah, I’m really into art coz it helps to release my stress. It’s a good way to get it out of my system from singing or painting. And art makes me be able to perceive the world better, like to discover beauty in life, and to improve my aesthetic level.

Do you like visiting art galleries?

Yeah, love to go to art galleries on my days off coz it’s cool to take snapshots there and put them on my moments. More importantly, I have the chance to know different genres, and listen to the stories told by the guides.

Do you want to be an artist?

Well my answer is no because most of the artists are in limbo. I mean, it’s very hard for a person to make a name for him or herself in the industry. I know it sounds utilitarian, but that’s the truth. And if that’s the case, it’s impossible for an artist to support him or herself.

Do you like modern art or traditional art?

Honestly, I’m an outsider to art, but I should say, I just love both because each has its strong points. To my understanding, traditional art provides a basis for aesthetic level, showing people the details of the artwork. And modern art is sort of like, breaking the mould and reflecting the artists’ thoughts.

Do you like painting/ drawing? Why?

Yes, I do. I used to be fancy of drawing when I was in primary school. I just enjoyed copying the figure in my drawing book and making use of any colour as I like. I felt proud of being praised by my relatives when they saw my drawing posted on the wall of my house.

Do you want to learn more about art?

No. I simply take it as some entertainment activities to kill time like sculpturing or paper cutting, not something that I would like to pay special attention or invest, or put alot of efforts. As I mentioned, handicrafts making is too time consuming and challenging to be adept. So, as opposed to making such stuff, I would rather spend some time listening to music and learn how to sing.

Do you think children should learn drawing?

It depends. If a child has an interest in drawing, it’s good for them to do. Parents should encourage their children to do what they like. However, it’s useless to push every child to learn drawing.

Sure, one of the foods I’ve learned to prepare is a classic Italian lasagna. I learned how to make it several years ago when I was living on my own during university.

I picked up the recipe from my grandmother during one of my visits home. She’s an amazing cook and has been making lasagna for our family gatherings for as long as I can remember. I watched her closely as she layered the pasta sheets, ricotta cheese, meat sauce, and mozzarella in a baking dish. She taught me the importance of seasoning each layer just right and using fresh ingredients.

Learning to prepare lasagna was a really rewarding experience for me. It was a dish that I had always loved eating but never tried making myself until then. The process was quite intricate but also enjoyable, especially because it connected me to my family’s culinary traditions. I felt a sense of accomplishment when I served it to my friends for the first time, and they absolutely loved it.

Overall, learning to prepare lasagna not only expanded my cooking skills but also deepened my appreciation for homemade comfort food and the joy of sharing delicious meals with others.

What kinds of things can children learn to cook?

Well, in my opinion, children can learn a variety of simple dishes and cooking techniques. They can start with basics like making sandwiches, scrambled eggs, and salads. As they progress, they can learn to cook pasta, rice, and simple stir-fries. Baking cookies, cupcakes, and basic cakes are also popular options. I believe that it’s important to gradually introduce them to different cooking methods and ingredients based on their age and skill level.

Do you think it is important for children to learn to cook?

Yes, I believe it’s very important for children to learn how to cook. Cooking is a life skill that not only promotes independence but also encourages a healthier relationship with food. So, I think that knowing how to prepare meals allows children to make better food choices and control what they eat. Moreover, cooking can boost their confidence and creativity in the kitchen, which are valuable traits that carry into adulthood.

Do you think young people should learn to cook at home or at school?

I think a combination of both would be ideal. Learning to cook at home offers a more personalized and relaxed environment where children can learn family recipes and traditions. On the other hand, cooking classes at school can provide structured lessons, exposure to a variety of cuisines, and a chance to interact with peers. Therefore I would like to suggest that both settings have their advantages, contributing to a well-rounded culinary education.
