Medical technology has increased average life expectancy. Is it curse or blessing?

SAMPLE ANSWER

The discussion on Medical technology is debatable and each side has its own plausible argument. As a result, the average life expectancy increased. It is undoubtedly that medical technology breeds some undesirable consequences, but I believe it has more positive effects on society than negative.

On one-hand critics may point out that many countries have challenges with the increase in population. Since people can live longer than before, many countries have a higher rate of population that they have never faced before. Besides that, they have to increase their national budget in the healthcare section in order to answer the need of hospitals, to provide care for elder citizens. Medical technology increases the population and gives a burden on government expenditure.

However, in spite of the argument above, medical technology gives people another chance to live longer. In the past, many sick people were dying young and left their families without anyone to care for and give the quality of parenting advice their children deserve. Therefore, it will help parents to live longer and take care of their children and they can become good citizens in the future.

To conclude, medical technology might create overpopulation issues in the future, but without it; many people are dying young and many children will live without meaningful families.
