You live in a small apartment building. You are frequently bothered by noise from your upstairs neighbor’s apartment.
Write a letter to your neighbor.
In your letter
• describe the situation.
• explain why it is a problem for you.
• suggest a solution.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Mr. B,
I am writing to let you know about a difficulty I am having with noise from your apartment. Your dog barks all the time. This is a problem for me since I am home all day, but I have a suggestion that I think could improve things.
Your dog, Fifi, barks all morning and all afternoon until you return from work. Since she quiets down when you get home, I am sure that you are unaware of this situation.
Because I work at home, I must listen to this noise all day long. It makes it very difficult for me to concentrate on my work, and I am sure that Fifi is not happy, either.
My suggestion is that you hire a dog walker. This person could come to your apartment once or twice during the day, take Fifi for a walk, and feed her. This way, Fifi would have some company and some activity, and she might feel less anxious about being alone.
