In the last few decades there have been more and more cases of famous people being hounded by the press. Some people think that famous people think that famous people in the media have no right to privacy.
To what extent do you agree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge.
SAMPLE ANSWER:-
In bygone days media showed news of celebrities, but did not interfere in their private lives much. However, now we are living in modern era which has seen tremendous changes. Today media hounds famous people. Some people consider it to be justifiable while others oppose. I agree with the second view and would justify it in the upcoming paragraphs.
There are certain factors to support my view. To commence with, celebrities also have a personal life and have the equal right to privacy as ordinary people have. The fans know these celebrities professionally, so media should only telecast about their professional life, like which movie they are doing or how the sports players are preparing for a match etc. Celebrities can be role model for ordinary people if media shows the hard work and efforts that they put in to become successful.
Secondly, when media interferes in the lives of celebrities excessively then this may affect their career or personal lives. Many times media exaggerates news just to get more popularity for their channel. They highlight celebrities’ personal issue; even manipulate them which disturb their peace of mind. We have seen some celebrities go in depression, commit suicide, or even mislay their career.
On the flip side, some opine that celebrities have no right to privacy. From their perspective, fans make a celebrity famous, so they have full right to know about each and every thing of them. If people have all the information about a particular celebrity only then they follow him or love him. For example, in India, people space great fans of cricketers and actors because media shows all the news related to them.
To conclude, I would like to state that both the above mentioned sides are justifiable. However, if I consider them logically, then I hold a belief that the first view is better and more effective. Hence, media should have no right to disturb the private lives of celebrities.
