One day the world’s oil and gas reserves will run out. The search for alternative energy sources such as wind power, solar power and burning waste is causing as much environmental damage as the oil and nuclear power sources they are intended to replace.
How far do you agree with this latter statement? What possible benefits do the alternative energy sources bring? OR What damage do they cause?

Today’s world, heavily dependent on fossil fuels, is facing an energy crisis, as these fuels are not renewable. But there is a ray of hope as there are renewable alternatives to fossil fuels though these sources like solar power, wind power and hydro electric power have benefits and drawbacks. This essay discusses the benefits and the negative impacts of using alternative energy sources.
Admittedly, the main alternative source of energy is solar power as tapping it is cheaper. Conversely using it directly has its limitations. For instance, sunlight is not equally available at all times in all countries. Besides, the use of raw materials needs to tap solar power such as metals and glass also cause some damage to the environment.
Another alternative, wind power, has more limitations, though the production of energy is less costly. The availability of wind is not constant and the amount of noise population caused by wind mills deserves attention. In addition, building wind mills also needs metals and other raw materials, which we get only by disturbing the ecological balance.
Yet another source, hydro electric power requires the construction of dams. A dam, constructed by spending several natural resources may serve us only for about a century. For example, they get filled by silt. Dams evacuate people, which is against the right of people to settle in the land of their preference.
The gist of the discussion is that the available alternative sources of energy are good as they are renewable and the production is cheaper. The less fossil fuel is used, the better it is for the environment. Using more alternative energy sources will be a wise decision as long as the ecological balance is maintained.
