Nowadays, with the more use of internet for reading, people are using less books. Do you think in future internet will replace books? Discuss the positive and negative impacts of both?
SAMPLE ANSWER
With the advancement in technology and with wide use of internet, people have more access to e-books rather than interest for printed books. However, this development has both pros and cons which will be discussed in this essay.
First of all, the methods of reading and studying of youngsters have become different now using computers and even mobile phones. The endless number of materials for reading is available on the internet. It provides any information required with a click of a mouse. Hence, it saves time and does not require space to store. Even it is less expensive as compared to printed books. On the other hand, using computers for a long time affects the eye vision and body posture. It gives strain to eyes and causes damage to eyes such as dry eyes, red eyes and blurred vision. Even constantly sitting in front of the of the computer screens causes neck and back pain.
In contrast to e-books, the paper books would not cause any harm to the health. Moreover, small children could not carry a laptop or mobile phones to school and as such they cannot do their studies without books. For reading books, no source of energy such as electricity or internet is required. However, there are certain drawbacks of printed books such as to produce books, trees are cut down and it affects the environment.
To conclude, even though internet books are widely popular among young generation, still the value and pleasure of reading books has its own relevance. Therefore, according to my view, internet will not replace the books.
