CHARACTER VOCABULARY

Generous: willing to give money, help, kindness, etc., especially more than is usual or expected

Sentence: He is generous with his time and money, and a principled and loyal friend.

Intelligence: the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.

Courageous: not deterred by danger or pain; brave.

Sentence: the men who fought for our country were truly courageous

Adventurous: willing to try new or difficult things:

Sentence: He is an adventurous cook who is always trying new recipes.

Affectionate: readily feeling or showing fondness or tenderness.

Sentence: He is very affectionate towards his children.

Ambitious: having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed.

Sentence: Only ambitious students get the best marks

Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

Sentence: I feel a degree of empathy for the man held hostage, and for his family

Aggression: spoken or physical behaviour that is threatening or involves harm to someone or something

Sentence: She was always full of aggression as a child.

Considerate: careful not to inconvenience or harm others.

Sentence: “she was always so kind and considerate

Extroverted: an energetic person who enjoys being with other people

Sentence: I was a very extroverted person from a very large family.

Arrogant: unpleasantly proud and behaving as if you are more important than, or know more than, other people:

Sentence: he is so arrogant, I’m not surprised his wife left him

Optimistic: hoping or believing that good things will happen in the future:

Sentence: The President says she is optimistic that an agreement can be worked out soon
