WHICH IELTS TEST IS MORE DIFFICULT COMPUTER DELIVERED TEST OR PAPER BASED TEST

Nowadays the exam of IELTS is also conducted on digital platform i.e. now you can give test on a computer. So now there are two types of IELTS exam conducted one is Pen paper based and the other is computer based. Many students want to switch to computer-based exam but due to rumors about difficulty level they don’t proceed so in this article we will discusswhich IELTS test is more difficult computer delivered test and paper-based test

There is a contentious verdict among individuals especially, who have appeared for IELTS, whether both given exam types are completely similar or distinct; however, the test day, that you experience while attempting exam, is only difference. Because the test format, question types, time limit to solve each test part as well as content is the akin for both.Even, in both cases, the speaking criteria is identical, as it is completed in a face-to-face interview with an IELTS examiner. But if we talk about Reading, Writing and Speaking, I.e. CS based, you will have to attempt these tests by using a computer, as all answers will be typed on the screen, which is only possible with the help of good typing speed. Apart from it, paper can be used for making notes if there is any need such as sometimes, applicants want to plan their essay before writing.

On the other hand, if paper-based exam is attempted by them then all these tests except speaking are completed on paper. For that, either you can use any good quality pencil or pen, however it is superior to use pencil, because it will be easier to erase if you write something wrong. Since it seems very bad to reader if we cut our words.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

As we previously discussed that the type, content is completely similar, so it is understandable the level of arduousness also will be same. Yes, the only difference might be applicants’ level of confidence. For example, if someone does not have good command in typing words then he/she can not perform well in spite of having better capabilities, because one of the prominent conditions is having a good typing speed to manage the time appropriately especially in writing wherein applicants have to accomplish two tasks in an hour. Thus, it will be fruitful for those, who are tech savvy like IT background or steno clear candidates.

One more thing that is necessary to mention here is that practicing on keyboard is quintessential rather than using laptop, as during CS examination, separate keyboards are provided by the concerned authorities, by dint of it, sometimes students feel unfamiliar, which put an adverse effect on their performance in the form of inappropriate scoring.

Furthermore, before appearing in the exams, you can practice for all the modules on various websites, which are available on google. So that you will be able to acquire depth knowledge about the settings, as there is an option to alter the font size of the screen as per your convenience. To avoid the hesitation, take profound knowledge either from your trainer or someone, who have same kind of experience.

All equipment whether it is computer or headphones will be supplied by the test centre where you booked your computer-delivered IELTS test. There is no need to carry something from your home.

One of the favorable aspects in CS based is that students can procure their results with in 3-5 working days, while in case of paper- based examination, it takes 13 days. So former view saves your previous time especially when you want to apply for your study visa and want to meet all admission deadlines.

If we talk about results then the marking criteria is also same as per the official IELTS sites, however, for my personal experience (number of students, who have attained scoring in both of exams), I have realized that the writing module’s marking is little bit lenient in CS unlike paper-based. As by performing at same level, it is convenient to get 7.0 or 7.5 band score in writing, which is really hard nut to crack in paper-based.
