How to develop your answers in IELTS Speaking

Here are some tips that will guide you know how to develop your answers in IELTS Speaking

* If you do not understand the demand the question, tell the examiner to repeat it. There is no link answering a question you don’t understand.

* Be ensure that your answer should be relevant to the examiner’s question.

* A memorized answer something similar you have already learnt is not suitable. For this, prepare few prompts so that you can get yourself talking. These reminds give you few seconds to think and arrange what you want to say.

* Keep in mind that graders do not check that you are telling truth, but your ability to speak English.

* The Marker introduces by a general topic and then asks you a question about a certain aspect.

* When the examiner put question to you, listen for words properly so that you can organize your answer around .What do you assert the benefits of being able to speak more than one language are? It is obvious that you need to speak about the benefits. When you paraphrase your answer, advantage/positive factors or……..is worthwhile.

* Put your list in an order: The prime advantage, I think is give one or more reasons:….This is because….and it………..  .

* You are participating in a two-way competition. Give space to the examiner for asking the questions. Don’t talk over the grader. Nevertheless, if the Marker doesn’t interrupt you, speak continuously.

– Don’t speak too fast or too slow, but clear.

– Organize your ideas what you are saying don’t make only the beginning relevant, your supporting evidence should be also be related. Bear these principles of writing a paragraph in mind.

#Give proper attention to the message and the organization instead of grammar and it will assist you to be fluent.

#The Examiner may ask a question that slightly changes the direction.

Planning and making notes.

– Write main ideas not sentences. The cue card asks you to describe a place, thing, people, experience etc. After that, give reasons for your choice. For each point, write only one or two words. In total, you shouldn’t have no more than 15_20 words

– Write your points in a vertical order so that it is easier for you to seen them in this way.

– Draw a line between the words regarding the description and the explanation. It will make vivid for you as you speak.

– As you speak, arrange your answer which is refer to the list.This must be sure that you answer all the parts of task card.

– Utilize  nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives for your notes.

– Don’t memorize your answer or notes by heart and then repeat the words in the exam quickly. This does not sound natural and affects your score.

– Think about the linking connectors/ phrases that will guide you as you speak, but do not write them in the notes.

*EYE Contact

Maintain eye contact with the grader, even he/she looks away or makes notes. If you do not often keep eye contact in your culture, practice speaking while maintaining eye contact before the examination.

– If the Examiner is writing or doesn’t smiling, this does not mean that you are doing badly. It is only means that he/she is doing the job very well.

*How to be fluent.

– Concentrate on the planning and Organization. As these help you to control your nerves and to maintain fluency. It will make you nervous, if you go into the exam unprepared.

– Concentrate only on the part you are doing. Forget about the other parts of exam for a while.

GOLDEN RULES

* Speak as much English as you can.

* Prepare yourself about the context of the exam that is involved.

* You need to be natural and it shouldn’t seem that you have learnt answers by heart.

* Be spontaneous and relevant.

* Don’t be delayed by the recording equipment in the exam room. It is there to help you not the Marker!!

* Stay optimistic. The exam is nearly over, so smile and breathe precisely.

* Remember that the feeling of excitement and pleasure aid you to perform better.

* Use impressive vocabulary. People usually use less than they know when they speak. Practice to operate what you know.

* Concentrate generally on what you are saying rather than being accurate. By this, you will make fewer errors.

* Practice speaking clearly. This doesn’t mean   slowly, but not artificially and evenly.
