15 strategies to enhance your score in IELTS Reading

In IELTS Reading one can easily score good bands as in this module students don’t have to create or make things to give the answers. All the answers are given in the passage itself and you just have to locate the answers and write it on the sheet. As you have to copy the answers so there is o possibility of getting the spellings wrong. But still some students find Reading as the toughest module this is because they are not aware about the proper guidelines for IELTS reading test. In this article, I am going to reveal Top 15 strategies to enhance your score in IELTS Reading to assist every candidate to score maximum.

How to make the Actual reading test more perfect: _

1_ Before starting your reading, it is important to look the ‘Title ‘ of the passage.

2_ The question paper includes headings, important characteristics such as capital letters, underlining, italics also graphs, figures and tables. One should understand the questions and follow each and every instruction.

3_ Pay Attention to time. It is of utmost significance. Allocating too long on one passage or one question would result in a serious blunder and definitely lowering the score.

4_ There is no need to read each and every word of the paragraph. Reading should be purposeful, so you find the answer in a right manner, any candidate habituated with the real life mock tests in estimated to have that the accurate awareness of ‘ When to skim and when to scan’ .

5_ If a candidate is unable to find the answer of one question, without wasting your time he/she should jump for the next question.

6_ There is nothing to panic. If one doesn’t know the subject of the text; all the answer can be easily found in the text, hence immense focus on reading is necessary.

7_  Any word for an answer should be taken from the text given to read , no one have the liberty to change the form of the word or words of text.

9_ Give more attention to the spellings. Extreme caution has to be executed.

10_It is important to have the proper understanding of the usage of ‘singular’ and ‘plural’.

11_ There are ‘sentence completion’ type questions, the candidate should understand what exactly is asked.

12_ If a question in ‘fill in the Blanks’ type reads like: ‘during the ……..’And the answer is winter, then the candidate must write just ‘winter’ not ‘during the winter’, that is wrong.

13_ Paying sharp attention to the ‘word limit’ is extremely desirable. Let’s clarify: if the candidate has asked to complete a sentence using ‘2words’, it must be two not three. For instance, correct answer is ‘Writing skill’, one can’t write ‘skill of writing’ that’s incorrect.

14_ There is no penalty marking, all questions are to be answered. The higher the number of correct answers, the higher the chance of scoring higher.

15_ After transferring the answers to the reading answer sheet, they should be checked with due attention.
