In IELTS speaking your speaking ability is tested so the mode of exam is communication. In this your fluency and ability to have conversation is checked and it is also seen how effectively you can talk in the language. Maintain eye contact with the examiner this not only shows that you are confident but also let you know about the mood of the examiner. By mood I want to say that you can know whether examiner is listening you with interest or not in no then you can change your ideas. You can also come to know when the examiner wants you to stop or he want to continue with the same question specially in cue cards examiner shows his hand in between to stop and you can see his action when you will be looking at him.
