IELTS is the abbreviation of International English Language Testing System. The IELTS listening test is considered the easiest one but there are still some tips and strategies that can boost a student’s band score in this module, thereby increasing overall band score. 1. Make sure you practice rigorously
The most successful strategy for improving listening band score is to get used to of English Language which can be done by streaming videos of news announcements, dialogues or podcasts etcetera on distinct topics. This enables the student to get habitual of listening to different accents such as British, American, Australian and many more. In IELTS exam, it is never sure that recording of which accent will be played; therefore it is always better to be on safer side. Understanding accents is petty important as pronunciation of some words vary and practicing this will prepare the student to understand those.
If you have strenuous schedule and no time to do that, try listening to English-speech in everyday circumstances, for instance, while driving car, doing household chores etcetera. 2. You must have proper equipments

3. Read prior to listening
Utilize your gap period properly by reading the questions beforehand. The recording is played once only, so it would be easier for you to pay attention to the conversation only. A student gets a time of around one minute to read questions before the recording of every section. So, a student needs to understand the importance of that time and should use it to read, understand and predict the demand of questions. Also, during this time, directions etcetera can be marked on maps and keywords can be highlighted.
4. Jot down some key points
It’s always better to make some short notes while listening to the audio since it will enable you to keep in mind the conversation that you heard. It would make it easier for you to answer questions rightly. This strategy specifically helps in case of MCQs and questions of matching as it is really hard to focus at two places in this situation. By writing keywords, student can later match the content with the options given.
Please note writing details would not help you, just write up main keywords and phrases to bound you to improve band score.
5. Write answers in block letters
To err is human. There are always chances that you might write wrong spellings despite having good knowledge of word in case of hurry. Writing answers in capitals will help you write carefully. Also, there are some answers where you would need to write first letter capital or specifically small. In this case, if a student ignores this, unfortunately his answer will be marked wrong.
