In this article we will highlight a basic five-step strategy that you must follow if you would like to get a Band 7 or above in the IELTS exam.

1. Work for it:

It’s quite clear from heading that if you want to achieve a good score you have to work towards the goal just wishing for good score won’t help you.

We all get 24 hours in a day in which we all have obligations, goals and hobbies that we like to priorities. We still need to set a routine to study for our IELTS exam. We all need to practice for our IELTS exam. Usually it depends upon your Language skills. If you have good command on your language than 1-2 hours are enough but if you need more practice than you have to invest more time. To do this, I would suggest analyzing your daily timetable with scrutiny. You need to be firm, realistic and ask yourself difficult questions, such as Where can I spare the free time I currently have? Can I manage waking up earlier so I can study in the morning? Could I spend less time on Facebook and more time studying?

2. Follow a single method:

Too many cooks spoil the broth similarly advice of lots of teachers increases your chance of failure. Don’t get confuse with lots of different technique that areavailable out there, just follow one single method. Seeking advice from a trustworthy IELTS expert or tutor will provide you with a focused approach to the exam.

Following too many teachers, methods or sources can harm you in three ways:

Waste your time.

Once you have decided which course and pattern to follow utilize your time studying and preparing for the IELTS exam. You do not want to waste time researchingwhich method is trustworthy. So, invest your time initially on the research of whose way you want go and then don’t look back. Time is very crucial so make sure you invest it well.

Cause unnecessary stress for yourself.

It is natural to become frustrated when you know which skills you want to improve but you don’t know which method is reliable or which advice will get you the score you need. Therefore, it’s important to remember that this stress does not mean that the test is impossible or too difficult; it is completely avoidable if you find a trustworthy source or IELTS expert.

Lower your score.

No teacher will ever have the same two methods, and trying to decide which method will get you a Band 7 will only lead to confusion.

Your writing is a reflection of your thinking. If your thinking is confused, your writing will be confused.

3. Learn your specific weaknesses

When I say ‘specific weaknesses’, I don’t mean modules like ‘writing’ or ‘reading’.

I meant very specific reasons related to grammar, vocabulary, coherence and cohesion or other exact areas that need improvement.

Most experienced IELTS tutors can look at your essay and highlight within minutes the elements that are losing you marks, the exact weaknesses. Sometimes you need outside help to figure out your weakness as its very difficult for us to evaluate ourselves.

If you don’t know what you’re doing wrong, you won’t know how to get better. This will stop you from passing and can cost you both time and money.

4. Take action on your weaknesses

Once you identify your specific weaknesses, you need to take action and find out how to correct them. If you don’t do anything to fix your problems, they’re never going to improve.

Practice wisely. It is vital that you practice using reliable practice tests; there is no point using fake practice tests online because they simply won’t prepare you for the real IELTS exam.

5. Think Positive:

Never underestimate the importance of positivity. You need to have a positive mindset if you want to score well in the IELTS test. If you tell yourself that you are never going to pass, you probably never will. That’s a way to gain confidence and overcome stress. Stress can lead to mistakes and over crowd your thoughts. So,its always advisable to be stress-free and confident while appearing for your IELTS Exam.

Thank You 🙂
