9 Magic Tips – How to Improve IELTS Writing

There are many IELTS aspirants who score good in Listening, Reading and Speaking but unfortunately they don’t crack Writing module and get stuck below 6.In IELTS writing there are lots of things on which your writing skill is judged like Grammar, Sentence structure, Vocabulary, Task response, Structure of essay etc. and they students who don’t get 7 in IELTS Writing are not able to balance all these things.  So, today in this article we will disclose 9 Magic IELTS writing tips that can boost your Band to 7+.

 1.  Know the basic structure of the essay, before you start writing an essay.

2. Task 2 is worth more in marks and is easier so perform this task before.

3.  Learn all the writing structure for each type of task 1 so you don’t waste too much time on it. Learn in a way that in real exam you only have to insert new data and suitable verb tenses in the structure. For the structure you can go through various sample answers and can note the best from it.

4. You should complete both task1 and 2.If you don’t finish any of them you will be penalized for it.  Don’t care how difficult the test is or how little time you have got. Our target should be to finish both the tasks at any cost.

5. Practice as much as you can as the practice is the key to score good bands. Even your practice sessions should be time bonded and you should complete both task in one hour. Don’t think that you can do only one task at a time as doing both tasks will make you familiar with time limits.

6. Practice makes perfect. In writing, this statement is completely true. But it is icing on the cake if there is someone to check your writing for you and so you can learn from your mistakes.

7. Writing requires wide academic vocabulary and synonyms. You can buy a dictionary to work on or you can also opt various options and vocabulary enhancing techniques to enrich your vocabulary.

8. You should not write in informal way. There are some rules of writing you should follow. For example: no abbreviations, slangs, no 1st and 2nd pronoun or possessive (I, you, me, my, your), except in conclusion where you have to state your opinion.

9. Structure of the essay depends on body paragraphs so they have to include: the topic sentence, supporting sentences (2-3 sentences), development sentences (evidence: example, experience, data). In many languages (English included), there are many ways to develop a body paragraph, which results in a situation where that topic sentence is not the first sentence. But you are advised to put the topic sentence at the beginning of each body paragraph. Don’t be creative in this case.

Keep in your mind, to become successful, you MUST make an effort. You should have a clear motivation and a firm determination to overcome difficulties. Success will not come to you with ease. You have to work hard for it and in IELTS practice is the only way to gain success. Don’t just wait for a lucky break; it will never come if you don’t know how to grab it.

Relax before the test!

The day before the exam is the relax day. Don’t take stress of the exam just keep your mind calm and prepare it for the test. You should not attempt any practice test that day as it can de-motivate you.

With Best Wishes!
