8 Steps to boost IELTS preparation

Everybody wants to clear exam in the first attempt but unfortunately, some of the aspirants fail to do so. Even in IELTS many students appear several times to clear it. Today in this article we will discuss 8 steps that will boost your IELTS preparation and you will clear the exam in a single attempt.

1. Check your desired scores

It’s necessary to know your required band scores. This will help prepare you well for the test I say you should target more than your requirement. If your requirement is of overall 6 than your goal should be of 7 so that if the test is hard you should be able to achieve your score of band 6.

2. Collect practice materials that will help you achieve it

Conduct your own exam and note your strengths and weaknesses. Once you are clear that in which part you are lacking collect the practice material according to that. For example if you lack in grammar part try to get some books that can enhance your grammar and if you are feeling low in any question type get some material which have abundant of that.  If your vocabulary is not good read more newspapers and magazines.

3. Set yourself to study plan that you can follow

Once, when you are full of study material you should make a proper time table that will give you a proper schedule for each module so that everything can get properly arranged and you don’t get irritated.

4. Effectively address the issues

Now when everything is scheduled and you start studying you will face several issues don’t get panic just work on them. Rather than just going through the practice tests try to focus more on the strategies and the ways to approach the question as these little things will help to enhance your scores. Try to concentrate more on your weak points.

5. Check and correct everything in every exercise that you do

After completing every task check it for the mistakes. The proper study method is first to complete the task then check it and understand where and why you committed the mistake and redo it. If you just finish one question and don’t check it is impossible to know your mistakes and your improvement. Only by checking you can come to know about sectors to improve. Once you know your mistakes understand them and repeat the question so that you can improve it.

6. Move on using this knowledge

Now when you will repeat your wrong questions you will definitely come to know the new techniques and your knowledge will be upgraded. Don’t let this knowledge go in vain grip it tightly and use it in further questions. Using it will increase your scores.

7. Keep an eye on your progress

Keep track of your progress. It is important to keep you motivated as when you see yourself improving your confidence level increases. On the other hand, if your marks goes down you will come to know that something is going wrong and you can diagnose work on it.

8. Book your exam ONLY when you know you can achieve the score you want

Many of the aspirants book their exam according to the situation like last date of submitting application form in an institute or other visa formalities and they don’t see how much they are prepared this give them negative results. It is mandatory to know whether you are actually prepared to appear in the exam so don’t go with the external reasons and book your exam only when you feel confident that you are well prepared for the exam.
