How to Remove Hesitation in IELTS Speaking

Most of the non native English students get their scores deducted because of their accent and pronunciation. Normally the examiner doesn’t understand their accent and make them stop before they finish their answer. The way to resolve this problem is to work on the vocabulary and pronunciation. However, there are some tricks and techniques which can be used to increase your scores in IELTS speaking.     

Causes of hesitation when speaking

It is important to know why you take pauses or go blank while speaking as these things shows lack of confidence. There can be several reasons for this, we will discuss some of the major causes.

Hesitation due to lack of knowledge

Main reason is the lack of knowledge about the given topic. Obviously, if you don’t know anything about a subject you cannot speak anything. Moreover, if you don’t have the basic knowledge of grammar or vocabulary than also you will not be able to speak.

Hesitation due to lack of skills

Another reason of hesitation is lack of speaking skills. Sometime you are well aware of the subject but while speaking you feel hesitation this is because somewhere your speaking skills are undeveloped. 

Removing hesitation

Hesitation can be removed easily and the ways are simple to follow. Only thing is you should devote some time with firm determination and commitment and you will see dramatic improvement in yourself in a short spam.

Hesitation elimination through practice

As it is normally said that Practice makes the man perfect this is true with the speaking skills too. Desired results can take upto 3 months but I assure you will achieve your goal. Don’t think that I have not conversed in English with many people just go through it. Try again and again and you will notice your improvement. You just need to do is find a friend or anyone who have good command over the language and discuss few topics with him on daily basis and tell him to correct you where ever you commit mistake. This will develop your speaking skills and your hesitation will disappear.

Quick trick to defeat hesitation

If you practice English speaking with a partner, friend, colleague or a trainer everyday – it will build your confidence on solid foundation. Try to speak slowly but with strong voice as when you speak slowly you get time to think about the topic. Besides, you should not say any memorized answer instead, you should speak from your mind. Most important thing is to remain calm and relaxed in front of the examiner, listen the question first than answer it.
