IELTS preparation Tips before the test day

If you have little time left before your exam then it is essential to focus on strategies that will solidify with the IELTS required skills. As you all know IELTS is an exam that tests your English knowledge how well you know about the grammar and your ability to paraphrase sentences. But it is not your end goal. It is just a tool that allows you to measure your current level of your English proficiency. In the future you will use English in your daily life and preparing for the test you will also improve your level gradually. So it is advised to start your preparation several months advance before your exam. There are some specific things that you need to concentrate on before your test. Some of them are just general English skills that are so essential that you want to brush up on them and some are specific IELTS techniques that we train to be successful on the test. Today we will discuss IELTS preparation tips before the test day.

1. The first step that you must do is to take full mock test. For example, some books offer a full length IELTS academic test that you can use for practice. In books you will follow the same sequence of modules as on the real IELTS test and you will start from the reading and listening module’s then you will also use the same format in your real exam. After working on all the modules you can also access the answer sheets where you can transfer the answers for the reading, listening and writing modules. In the listening you will take advantages of high word audio tracks and then writing and speaking you will get also test with clear band scores.

2. You need to do speaking with real people. One thing that you want to do is to practice a lot before your exam. It is actually to taking with real people. You don’t want your first experience to be on the actual test. Also it is possible to train your speaking on your own at home without anyone. Before your exam it is essential to find the real speaker for conversation in English because he/she describes your mistakes and build your confidence. In this way you also feel relax while doing the conversation with person in English. This is really worth a lot of attention.

3. Some students are weak in grammar. You also need to brush up to your Grammar and it is especially useful after getting your essays corrected and finding out your mistakes. Sometimes you don’t want to check your essay but you should still recap on all of the English grammar that you have perilously learned and may be learn something new. So you need to focus on grammar.

4. You have studied much as possible also you have spent lots of weeks preparing for the exam. When you are appearing for the exam then you need to be relaxed and you will do your best. Little bit nervousness is fine but being way is too stressed is bad and leads to lower band scores. So don’t be stressful before your exam and should know how to tackle nervousness in exam. Most of the students change their correct answers to the incorrect answers.  So stick with your first choice.

5. Before you leave for your exam you should have a short list with you on a piece of paper with six or seven points that help you remember key pieces of information and strategies for the different sections of the exam. For example, write your answers for listening with small latter’s but change them to the capital letters when you transfer your answers to the answer sheet. And for the speaking section remember to use the questions in your answers as well to paraphrase and give examples.

6. In IELTS you should stick to the personal pronouns but it does not mean you personalize your topics in such a way that it becomes informal. Do not use text shortcuts and social media slang on your IELTS. Write full, grammatically sound sentence in a formal tone, avoid 1st and 2nd pronouns like I, you, your etc in your writing and speaking. This can be used sparsely in the conclusion alone. The tone of the IELTS needs to be formal.
