IELTS Speaking advice and practice

Most of the aspirants find IELTS speaking task too difficult as they feel confused while speaking to a stranger or they don’t get ideas to speak about. In this article we will discuss how to practice for the exam.

First think is to broaden your speaking skills by listening radio, TV and doing healthy discussions with your friends or teacher. These things will boost your confidence level as well as give you various ideas to speak.

Stretch your abilities

As I told you to have conversation with your friends but make sure the guy who you choose should have good command on the language so that he can rectify the mistakes committed by you. This practice will stretch your abilities and skills to speak in front of anyone.

Repetition with understanding

Another way of building confidence is to watch debates and speeches and where you did not understand the words stop it and listen it again. This will enhance your vocabulary treasure and also help you with the pronunciation of the difficult words.

Don’t be nervous

In the exam your biggest enemy is your nervousness as if you get nervous your mind will go blank and you will not be able to answer any question properly.

There is nothing to worry in the speaking test as the questions asked in it is related to daily life and experiences which can be answered easily and if you are afraid of the examiner they are like your teachers and normally they are very friendly so be relaxed in the exam.

How to practice

Practice like a real paper with all the three parts at one time without any break as this method will make you feel as you are in real exam and you will not feel tired in the real exam too. Remember, you need to focus on fluency, clarity and accuracy as all these things will be judged. Another method of practicing is to record yourself and listen to it you can identify yourself the mistakes done by you.  I personally recommend you to do it with some partner and tell him or her to review your performance and tell the mistakes go through the mistakes and work on them.
