Speaking module of IELTS is a difficult thing to clear specially for the students who belong to non English speaking countries. In this part of the test students are often found confused, fumbling and struggling to speak in front of the examiner. There are various reasons because of which students often suffer these problems. What comes in IELTS Speaking Test?

If you are new to IELTS, first know what will be there in IELTS Speaking Test. This module is divided in three parts –

1. Introduction

2. Cue Card

3. Follow ups

In introduction part the examiner will ask you some general questions on the topics like family, friends, hobbies, academics, future goals, reasons for abroad attraction, hobbies, qualifications, hometown, last trips and treks he/she had been to etc.

In the second part you will be given a topic and you will be given one minute to prepare it and then you will have to continuously speak for two minutes on the same.

In the third and last part the examiner will ask you some questions related to the cue card. This one to one interview goes for 12 to 15 minutes.

Improve your confidence, fluency and continuity  

IELTS speaking test judges your fluency, grammar and vocabulary so you should show the examiner all these things to get better scores. Another thing which raises your marks is the ability to speak in length. In the speaking module, you get a chance to show off your grip over the language so speak as much as you can.

You need to be confident in front of the examiner because only if you are confident than only you can give the accurate answers for the questions.

Show excitement to the examiner

Show examiner that you are excited for the test and should maintain it for the whole session. Showing excitement should not mean that you show it with your body language but through your words by answering every question in an enthusiastic way by expressing yourself properly.

Keep your mind open to understand the speaker’s accent

You should keep your ears and mind open to understand what the speaker is saying. It is often seen that the examiners in the exam are foreigner and they have different assent.  The assent of these examiners bothers the aspirants as they understand what the examiner is asking as a result they give wrong answers.  Hence it’s wise to watch English movies and news channels to analyze different accents and pronunciations.
