IELTS Writing Tips 2022

1. Task response

It measures how well your essay answers the question and in order to get 8 band scores you need to fully answer the question. However, if some part of the essay is not fully covered you only get 6 bands. Your idea should be relevant and well developed. You need to just describe that points which are related to the topic.

2. Take practice test

There are official practice tests and unofficial practice test provided by various organizations and you should prefer them for practice. Before subscribing any platform there are some things that you should keep in mind first the level of difficulty should be exactly the same as you will face on the exam day the second reason is that tasks should be as close to the real thing as possible. If you feel you need more practice then you can do practice by writing by your own. You should use your own idea instead of copying them from books. You can find the model answers for the writing tasks with comments from the examiner and you can see which essay get a band scores five, six, seven and then you can compare your essay to those and you will see where approximately you are at this moment because other model answers are usually amazing but that’s not what people actually write during the exam and it is important to understand what you need to achieve on the day.

3. Understand how the writing is marked

Virtually nobody achieve 8 band score in writing. You need to know the resources which are required in your writing. The scoring of the writing is not a straightforward and that’s especially true for IELTS writing. Basically, your Grammar and vocabulary together give you 50% of the mark and the other 50% are depend on your structure of essay and how you develop and support your ideas. Also, how well you link sentences together so all these things should come naturally but most people they definitely don’t come naturally.

4. Learn best strategies for writing

The typical difficulties in writing are to finish both tasks within 60 minutes and to write the more words than required. It’s actually not easy to do so and to succeed in IELTS writing its necessary not only to complete both tasks but to write the required words. So you need to write quickly that’s why learning the structure of both tasks very well is compulsory. If you know what exactly you need to write in your introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion for task 2 and an overview for task 1. You will be able to write a bit more quickly. That’s very important if we are taking IELTS academic.

5. Improve your English level

Only Reading book, magazine, articles will not help you so you have to do practice by writing both the tasks. Don’t limit yourself to a single writing style. Keeping a diary in English, writing short stories, and trying your hand at essays are all good practice. Correct your own work or find someone to go over it with you. Also you should Watch English movies or listen to English-language radio if you cannot understand once than Replay the bits you missed until you understand them.

Thank you 🙂
